Digging into the trenches is the defensive line with the primary goal of causing disruption for the quarterback and the running game. Here are five Class of 2021 defensive linemen to watch this season.
1. Jaden Jackson - Harlan High School (San Antonio, TX)
A defensive tackle out of San Antonio, Jackson received 5A all-district honors. He has registered a 4.95 40-yard dash time, 4.4 shuttle, 24-inch vertical, 285-lb bench, 12.2 100-meter dash, and 445-lb squat. He has received offers from Trinity University and Southwestern University.

3. Kade Danger Carnes - Lake Travis High School (Austin, TX)
Danger is actually his middle name and he is a two-time defensive MVP of the week. Doubling as both a defensive tackle and a defensive end, Carnes has also registered a 4.56 40-yard dash time, a 30.4-inch vertical, 255-lb bench, 11.9 100-meter dash and 485-lb squat. He has received an offer from Washington University (St. Louis).
4. Joshua Gonzalez - Stevens High School (San Antonio, TX)
With a 78-inch wingspan comes Joshua Gonzalez who was also given 2019-20 first-team all-district 29-6A honors. He has currently received no offers. However, judging by his tape, Gonzalez is big and explosive off the snap, able to blow through offensive linemen to get to the quarterback.
5. [player_tooltip player_id="60564" first="Pryce" last="Yates"] - Reagan High School (San Antonio, TX)
A three-star defensive end out of San Antonio, Yates has received a total of nine offers but committed to UConn. His offers include Abilene Christian, Columbia, Dartmouth, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Pennsylvania, Princeton and Yale. Judging by his tape, Yates is also committed to the play until the whistle blows, meaning he is always chasing down running backs until he’s able to wrap them down. He’s disruptive and is constantly in the quarterback’s face.
