Quarterbacks
2022 Dontrell Jackson, Marist @trelljackson17
At one point I had gotten to see all the teams and was about to head out for the day. I passed by Jackson and asked him if I should stay, he told me to stay and watch his team win the championship, and that’s exactly what they did. Jackson’s leadership skills stand out as much as his abilities. Although a bit undersized at 6’0 and 183-pounds, he makes up for it with great ball placement and timing. Watching him throw a 40-yard bombs where things of beauty, great arch and accuracy. Plenty of D1 interest and offers for Jackson as a junior, that shouldn’t slow down anytime soon.
2023 Cole Teschner, Schaumburg @ColeTeschner
If you didn’t know Teschner played football, it wouldn’t surprise me. He doesn’t look overtly athletic or strong, but watch him play and he shows you he’s got plenty of talent. Great ball placement on the majority of Teschner’s throws throughout the day. He showed very good anticipation skills, getting the ball out quickly before his receivers were out of their breaks. Solid accuracy and vision helps him get the ball where it needs to go. Teschner does need to get stronger, but his 6’2” frame should allow him to add more good weight, he’s already 192-pounds. Big time upside here.
2021 Vincenzo Meschi, Bolingbrook @VincenzoMeschi
The top scoring leader during the regular season continued his great play during the final day. Meschi has good size at 6’2” and 190-pounds always seems to throw a tight spiral with very good touch. Meschi made several good back should throws, his timing and vision are excellent. Solid all-around, Meschi unfortunately is a casualty of Illinois not playing fall football. He would have gotten a lot more attention and Meschi is going to make the program he ultimately signs with very happy.
Tight Ends
2021 Charlie Sessa, Hinsdale Central @charliesessa
You want a redzone target to throw a jump ball to, then Sessa is your guy. Fantastic size at 6’5” and 210-pounds, Sessa consistently high pointed the ball making defenders miserable. Sessa runs good routes, has some very solid speed and good hands. Another fall casualty, Sessa does have some Ivy League interest, but I believe would have had many more schools after with more tape. I like the upside here.
2021 Ryan Orput, Hinsdale Central @ryanorput
Orput has tons of versatility, he can play out wide or be an inline tight end. The upside is there and every time I see him, Orput makes plays. A great redzone threat, he’s got the speed to take shorter routes to the house. He’s got the frame, 6’4” and 210-pounds, to win jump balls as well. He has gotten some interest from D1 programs, but again, he’d have much more if a fall season was being played.
