Week 5 Preview: Eastern Kansas Large Schools

There are several exciting High School football games in classes 5A and 6A in eastern Kansas to look forward to in week 5.  Here are some of them. Lawrence vs Bishop Carroll The 3-0 Lawrence Lions (6A) take on the 3-1 Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles (5A) in a battle of two awesome teams.  Lawrence High has been on a roll this season beating teams by an average score of 50-7.  Bishop Carroll have looked impressive as well averaging 33 points per game on offense and their only loss came against 6A powerhouse Derby.  Lawrence High is ranked near or at the top of the 6A rankings and rightfully so, as they have the #1 ranked RB [player_tooltip player_id="35344" first="Devin" last="Neal"] who has averaged over 200 yards per game on the ground and the stellar QB play of Jackson Dooley in addition to having one of the best defenses in the state.  Bishop Carroll is led by QB Aiden Neidens and RB DJ Giddens and [player_tooltip player_id="35361" first="Hunter" last="Trail"].  All of whom looked great in each game this season. Seaman vs Manhattan The 3-1 Seaman Vikings take on the 2-2 Manhattan Indians in what looks to be a great game.  Seaman has averaged 39 points per game and are led offensively in a balanced attack by QB Reid Cowan who has passed for 643 yards and 5 TD while scoring 4 rushing TD and RB Nathan Zefferjahn who has 314 rushing yards and an impressive 7 TD in just 4 games.  Manhattan has averaged 30 points per game and are looking to win their 1st game of the year on the road this week.  Manhattan is led offensively by dual threat QB Dayne Aschenbrenner who has improved tremendously in the last 2 games throwing for and running for over 300 yards each and contributing 8 TD (3 pass and 5 rush) this season, WR Joe Hall who has 3 TD receptions in the last 2 games and RB Mason Reid who is a playmaker at running the ball as well as a receiver. Blue Valley Northwest vs Blue Valley Southwest The 2-0 Blue Valley Northwest Huskies take on the 0-1 Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves in a battle between two rivals from Overland Park.  Blue Valley Northwest has averaged 32 points a game and looked impressive in their victories against Blue Valley and Blue Valley West.  Blue Valley Northwest is led offensively by Junior QB [player_tooltip player_id="35569" first="Mikey" last="Pauley"] who has 5 passing TD so far with 4 of them coming last week against Blue Valley West as well as 161 rushing yards and 3 rushing TD.  Blue Valley Southwest is led by Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id="49726" first="Tanner" last="Curry"] who threw 2 TD passes against powerhouse Blue Valley North last week. Olathe South vs Olathe Northwest The Olathe South Falcons (1-2) will battle the Olathe Northwest Ravens (1-2) in a game featuring two teams coming off a big win last week after starting off the 2020 season 0-2.  Olathe Northwest looked great last week on both sides of the ball in a decisive 48-6 defeat of Shawnee Mission West.  In addition, Olathe South fought hard and won a close one against Shawnee Mission East 21-20.  With only 3 games left in the 2020 season, this is a huge game for both teams as they try to get to .500 and make a run for a spot in the playoffs.
