Typically, when two powerhouse schools such as Grayson High School, and McEachern High School meet up, it is either a very close defensive game, or a fireworks show on both sides. This past week was neither of those things, as Grayson routed McEachern for a win, 55-21. While there are plenty of talented Power 5 level prospects on both teams, it was Grayson’s team that boasted the most success with it’s talent. Even then, with all of Grayson’s success in this game, one player specifically, [player_tooltip player_id="33678" first="Phil" last="Mafah"], shined even brighter from the moment of kickoff, until the end of the game.

Simply put, last week, senior RB, [player_tooltip player_id="33678" first="Phil" last="Mafah"] showed why he is worthy of his Clemson commitment. As a whole, Mafah finished the game with 16 rushes, for 223 yards, and 2 TD’s. During this game, his talent was on full display, as he carried his team to a big time victory.
Throughout the game, Mafah displayed the ability to run powerfully, and with an aggressive attitude in between the tackles. He sifted through traffic very cleanly, and broke tackles almost effortlessly. With this, Mafah also showed his unique ability to change direction on a dime with his jump cuts, while also displaying his twitch and short area quickness.
During Mafah’s big time TD runs, he also showed his strong legs, burst, and long speed. His particular showing was not only crucial for Grayson during its big win, but we are positive that it excited all of the coaches at Clemson. His particular running style translates very well to their breed of offense, so you can expect to hear his name on Saturday’s during the coming years.
