After a long offseason, week 1 is finally upon us with some loaded matchups. Here’s a closer look at some of the top players in this star studded battle.
<strong>Saguaro</strong>:

He is a well rounded DE with good technique and fundamentals that is sure to give the Chaparral offense some fits. He’s committed to Michigan but holds 21 total offers from top programs including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State.

He has great size and frame at 6’4” 270 lbs. with ideal length. Shows good athleticism, flexibility, and bend. Impressive strength and power at the POA to finish blocks. Does a good job being an effective blocker at the second level.

A dynamic athlete with fluid movement, quick feet, and elite ball skills. Capable of being a game breaker on either side of the ball, he’s a guy Chaparral is going to have to be aware of at all times. Currently holds 23 total major D1 offers and committed to Ohio State in May 2020.

<strong>Chaparral</strong>:
[player_tooltip player_id="42782" first="Anthony" last="Lucas"], DL, 6’5” 280 lbs., 2022 – The number one ranked player in the Arizona 2022 class based on Prep Redzone and many other rankings. Already has ideal size and length for a Power 5 and possibly NFL lineman at 6’5” 280 lbs. He’s extremely athletic for his size with plus mobility and feet. Uses a variety of moves and very effective hands to beat blockers and make plays in the backfield. Can physically overpower opponents with his combination of size and strength. Holds 20 total offers from many top programs in all Power 5 conferences.
[player_tooltip player_id="42815" first="Brayten" last="Silbor"], QB, 6’0” 185 lbs., 2022 – Silbor put himself on the map last year performing well filling in for injured top recruit [player_tooltip player_id="37600" first="Jack" last="Miller"] at QB. In five games, he threw for over 1,100 yards, 11 TDs, with a QB rating of 113. Possesses a very live arm with plus arm strength and showed his ability to make accurate throws at all three levels as a sophomore. No doubt D1 talent that is waiting to showcase his ability.
[player_tooltip player_id="42625" first="Jared" last="Williams"], RB, 5’11” 205., 2021 – Williams was one of the top rushers in Arizona in 2019 and is ranked the #3 RB by Prep Redzone. He has added some weight and maintains his quick and elusive speed. He’s a well-rounded back with plus vision, balance, and cut ability. Very effective in the passing game catching passes out of the backfield.
Max Minor, WR, 6’4” 185 lbs., 2021 – Will be one of Silbor’s favorite targets in 2020 with his size and length at 6’4” 185 lbs. Overall he’s a good athlete, with strong hands and a large catch radius. Understands how to use his length to bring in 50/50 balls and catch the ball in traffic. Expect a good matchup between him and the strong Saguaro secondary.
