Prospects who fly under the radar try to do whatever they can to get noticed and have an opportunity to play at the next level. Oklahoma’s 2021 class is deep. And currently, around 30 prospects are committed to D1 programs. However, we’ve identified 20 prospects that are available, and the majority of them don’t hold any D1 offers. We’re realistic, we know that posting this article won’t be the reason these guys pick up interest. And we know that all 20 of these prospects more than likely won’t sign with D1 programs. But that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about them. So we’ll go alphabetically, talk about each prospect and have their hudl highlights at the ready. Stay tuned to future posts when we make some comparisons to current or former Oklahoma HS standouts that commit/sign with D1 programs. College coaches, wake up. [player_tooltip player_id="45655" first="Brenden" last="Dye"] - Linebacker - Owasso We start with one of the leaders of an Owasso defense that has been lights out to start the 2020 season. Linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="45655" first="Brenden" last="Dye"] has transformed himself into one of the top linebackers in this class. He’s an energizer bunny at the linebacker position that is a big time hitter. He can play sideline to sideline and has the athletic ability to even drop back in coverage when needed. But he’s great in run defense. [player_tooltip player_id="38523" first="Caden" last="Hendren"] - Athlete - Piedmont The first of several players that simply have "athlete" next to your name. Piedmont’s [player_tooltip player_id="38523" first="Caden" last="Hendren"] can do a lot of things on a football field and they’re all good. On offense, he’s Piedmont’s home run threat as a wide receiver. On defense, he can move around and play a variety of positions and make an impact. Oh, and he can return kicks and play in special teams. There isn’t much that Hendren can’t do. [player_tooltip player_id="38584" first="Cobe" last="Crews"] - Athlete - Carl Albert Another player listed as an athlete but you can also list him as a straight up winner. Carl Albert senior [player_tooltip player_id="38584" first="Cobe" last="Crews"] has been an important part to the Carl Albert dynasty over the last few seasons. While he plays both sides of the ball, we can’t help but like what he can bring to an offense as a wide receiver and on special teams. This isn’t a fact but we’re pretty sure he’s blocked the most kicks in Oklahoma over the last two years. [player_tooltip player_id="38511" first="Darryan" last="Moss"] - Linebacker - Broken Arrow Similar to Dye at Owasso, Broken Arrow’s [player_tooltip player_id="38511" first="Darryan" last="Moss"] has grown into a complete game changer at the linebacker position. Moss flourished in the Broken Arrow defense last year as a junior and has picked up where he left off last season. He’s continued to improve his game and his arrow is only pointing up. Moss is extremely athletic and has a great combination of pass and run defense against opponents at the highest level. [player_tooltip player_id="38688" first="Dorian" last="Plumley"] - Quarterback - El Reno We’ve been impressed with this dual-threat quarterback since his breakout season as a sophomore. While the senior campaign hasn’t begun the way he would like, with a foot injury slowing him down, he’s still the best dual-threat QB in the senior class. When Plumley comes back, expect him to pick up where he left off and that’s making remarkable plays and absolutely filling up the stat sheet, throwing and running the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="38574" first="Jalen" last="Teague"] - Wide Receiver - Booker T Washington This one is a complete head scratcher as to why Booker T Washington’s [player_tooltip player_id="38574" first="Jalen" last="Teague"] hasn’t gotten more attention. He has the size, he has the production, he plays at one of the best programs in the state when it comes to talent. What’s missing? The offers and interest for one. Teague is a wide receiver prospect that has a great blend of size and speed and has become a home run threat in the Hornet offense. [player_tooltip player_id="38579" first="Javyn" last="Wright"] - Athlete - Vian He plays quarterback for 2A’s #1 Vian but he’s a straight up athlete. [player_tooltip player_id="38579" first="Javyn" last="Wright"] is one of the fastest players on the football field week in and week out. At the QB position, he does almost all of his damage as a runner where he’s extremely tough to defend. However, don’t overlook his abilities on the defensive side of the ball. As a cornerback, Wright has the ability and speed to stay with any wide receiver in the state. [player_tooltip player_id="38514" first="Jayden" last="Patrick"] - Cornerback - Jenks Speaking of lockdown cornerbacks, here’s one that we’ve been high on since his junior season. Jenks senior [player_tooltip player_id="38514" first="Jayden" last="Patrick"] emerged last season and has only continued to improve his game now that he’s going into his senior season. As a senior, Patrick has expanded his game and has become a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. Keep an eye out on his abilities there but he’s a great cornerback. [player_tooltip player_id="51177" first="Joe" last="Maytubby"] - Defensive End - Shawnee Out of all the prospects on this list, Shawnee’s [player_tooltip player_id="51177" first="Joe" last="Maytubby"] might have the highest ceiling when it comes to what he could end up being four to five years from now. He’s played wide receiver but his most natural position appears to be as a defensive end. The combination of size and speed makes Maytubby a very scary prospect. With more reps and continued work in the weight room, Maytubby could be the steal of the class. [player_tooltip player_id="51178" first="Logan" last="Ward"] - Kicker - Deer Creek Kickers are prospects too. We’ve written that a few times, and we’ve also written about how the recruiting process is so different for kickers than any other position. However, that doesn’t change the fact that Ward has proven to be one of the best kickers in the country over the last year. Ward is a can’t miss prospect in the kicking department and he’s not bad as an athlete as well. Is a standout tight end and linebacker for Deer Creek. [player_tooltip player_id="38525" first="Luke" last="McEndoo"] - Athlete - Stillwater Just get Stillwater’s [player_tooltip player_id="38525" first="Luke" last="McEndoo"] to campus and figure it out from there. Seriously. He’s a complete package of a football player. You hear coaches all the time say how they just want football players on their team. Well here’s a perfect example of a kid who simply loves the game of football and plays it at a very high level. What is he at the next level? We don’t know what will be the most natural fit, but he needs to be there. [player_tooltip player_id="38557" first="Luke" last="Tarman"] - Athlete - Bishop McGuinness We knew that McGuinness had a complete playmaker coming back but we’re really bought in now. After seeing Bishop McGuinness senior [player_tooltip player_id="38557" first="Luke" last="Tarman"] in person last week, we’re more convinced that he can go at the next level. Another example of an athlete where you just figure out what his most natural fit is. Tarman is without a doubt one of the better two-way players in Oklahoma’s current senior class. [player_tooltip player_id="38531" first="Mason" last="Williams"] - Quarterback - Bixby Stop. Looking. At. Height. Alone. We get it, not too many quarterbacks under 6’0 playing at the college level. However, there’s always exceptions to the rule. And there are plenty of other quarterbacks in Oklahoma under 6’0 that can’t play at the college level. Bixby quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38531" first="Mason" last="Williams"] is just not apart of that group. Watch the tape. And after his best skill player graduated, Williams has only gotten better. [player_tooltip player_id="38532" first="Nasir" last="Kemper"] - Athlete - Lawton MacArthur Perhaps the most dangerous player listed as an athlete on this list is this young man. Lawton MacArthur’s [player_tooltip player_id="38532" first="Nasir" last="Kemper"] can score from anywhere on the field. We really like what he was able to do during his junior season and he’s only continued to improve on that this year as a senior. He’s an absolute game changer and can beat defenses in a variety of ways. Arguably the best offensive weapon still available in the 2021 class. [player_tooltip player_id="38548" first="Owen" last="Heinecke"] - Athlete - Bishop Kelley Similar to McGuinness and [player_tooltip player_id="38557" first="Luke" last="Tarman"], we’re more convinced than ever that Bishop Kelley’s [player_tooltip player_id="38548" first="Owen" last="Heinecke"] is a big time prospect that needs more attention. Heinecke is a fantastic two-way player for Bishop Kelley but his best attributes come on the defensive side of the ball. He’s a heat-seeking missile and has the frame and skills to translate to a linebacker at the next level. He’s a game-changer on defense. [player_tooltip player_id="38533" first="Owen" last="Ostroski"] - Athlete - Holland Hall Another perfect example of a player listed as an athlete that you just need to get to your campus. Wherever Holland Hall’s [player_tooltip player_id="38533" first="Owen" last="Ostroski"] has lined up, he’s had success. It won’t be that way in college but wherever he ends up, he’s going to succeed. He’s taken his game to a completely new level this season. While his junior tape is impressive, what he’s done in the first few weeks as a senior makes him a can’t miss prospect. [player_tooltip player_id="38521" first="Qwontrel" last="Walker"] - Running Back - Stillwater What did we say for [player_tooltip player_id="38531" first="Mason" last="Williams"]? Go ahead and read that again for [player_tooltip player_id="38521" first="Qwontrel" last="Walker"]. The Stillwater senior running back has been unreal for three-plus seasons now, since making an impact as a freshman. Walker is running into the same problem as Williams at Bixby. He doesn’t have the "prototypical" size. However, if you’ve seen Walker play in the last three years, you know he can go at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="38587" first="Robert" last="Mbroh"] - Athlete - Heritage Hall There’s a lot of prospects that have high game IQ’s, Heritage Hall’s [player_tooltip player_id="38587" first="Robert" last="Mbroh"] just has a high IQ. He’s one of the more intelligent prospects in the senior class and that’s opened the door for him to play a variety of positions and he picks it up in the blink of an eye. However, we see Mbroh on the defensive side of the ball as a safety or (with a little help from a college weight room) moving down and causing havoc as a linebacker. [player_tooltip player_id="38526" first="Sherrod" last="Davis"] - Athlete - Del City We’ve mentioned this a few times already how we first got introduced to [player_tooltip player_id="38526" first="Sherrod" last="Davis"] on the basketball court. He’s an outstanding athlete and we’re starting to buy in on him as a legitimate wide receiver prospect. We’re still convinced that his brightest future might be on the defensive side of the ball, but he’s shown a great ability as a wide receiver early on this season, especially when we saw him in person. [player_tooltip player_id="38522" first="Steven" last="Brown"] - Wide Receiver - Stillwater Another prospect that appears to be suffering from judgement about his size and not his abilities on the field. Stillwater senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="38522" first="Steven" last="Brown"] is one of the top playmakers at the receiver position in this 2021 class. Brown is arguably the quickest wide receiver in the state. The way he can start and stop is nearly impossible to defend. So don’t get caught up on his size because he’s shown that more times than not, he can’t be caught.
