Who are the top 6 QB1s that make the Sioux Falls area? Check out my six names that make our city rankings in South Dakota’s largest city.</span> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">6) [player_tooltip player_id="77508" first="Joe" last="Kolbeck"], QB, Brandon Valley (2021)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">Kohlbeck is very under the radar, especially on the football front. A promising basketball player, Kohlbeck has average arm strength on the deep ball but has good zip inside from 20 yards or less. Our next QB and Kohlbeck were a close match, but I think Teigen is a more college-ready QB prospect out of the Sioux Falls Area.</span> <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9463784/59cec107ab924926a81e7027" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Tape vs. Brookings</span></a> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">5) [player_tooltip player_id="56323" first="Jack" last="Teigen"], QB, Harrisburg (2021)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">The Tigers probably have the best QB tandem in all of the Dakotas. Teigen would be the starter just about anywhere but Harrisburg. I love how fast Teigen gets the ball out of his hands and has a decisive touch on the football. Although he won’t be the Tigers starter this year, I would definitely give this kid a look at the Division II or III levels as he has some promise. Development wise can work getting more arch on the football as some of his balls I have seen could get picked off by a taller defensive back.</span> <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9698119/5dec3dd95caaa50f0c958dcb" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Jr. Tape</span></a> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">4) [player_tooltip player_id="56261" first="Tommy" last="Thompson"], Sioux Falls Lincoln (2021)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">The Augustana commit is a poised yet raw prospect that I think will develop into a great QB for the Vikings. Reliable on the run option with quality speed to get out of the pocket and make a move. Thompson needs to develop more balance on his throws, even though when you watch the tape, he makes some of them look easy. If he can create that, should be another strong QB in the Northern Sun.</span> <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2CPk74" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Junior Tape</span></a> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">3) [player_tooltip player_id="56456" first="Max" last="Thomson"], Sioux Falls Washington (2022)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">How I didn’t have Thomson on my radar sooner is beyond me. Thomson has such a nice zip on the football and can make just about any throw you want. He is also very durable inside the pocket and can get loose and make a play with his legs. Perfect QB frame at 6’2 205. With weapons like Lindenwood (MO) TE commit [player_tooltip player_id="56242" first="Tyus" last="Hanson"] and another 2022 WR prospect in [player_tooltip player_id="56463" first="Josh" last="Piper"] to throw to, Thomson claims the 3rd spot in our Sioux Falls QB1 rankings.</span> <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2CRLNp" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Sophomore Tape</span></a> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">2) [player_tooltip player_id="56545" first="Taylen" last="Ashley"], Sioux Falls Roosevelt (2023)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">Ashley has been a big surprise this season for Roosevelt. As just a sophomore, he already has excellent instincts and ball placement for the undefeated RoughRiders. A dual-threat prospect that, in my opinion, is the best QB coming out of South Dakota in the 2023 Class. His mobility reminds him of a lot of Vince Young in his Longhorn days!</span> <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EDQup" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Game 1-3 2020 Tape</span></a> <strong><span data-preserver-spaces="true">1) [player_tooltip player_id="56447" first="Jacob" last="Knuth"], Harrisburg (2022)</span></strong> <span data-preserver-spaces="true">Knuth is a big reason why so many people are so high on Harrisburg making a big state tournament run. Massive QB frame at 6’4 and has tough mobility and strength when he leaves the pocket. He shows such strength on his runs and knows precisely what he is going to do with the football. His throwing strength and accuracy This is looking to be one of the top QB prospects the state of South Dakota has seen in a very long time coming out of the 2022 class.
