Pylon 7on7 Tournament at Maple Grove: Top QBs

Maple Grove, Minn-- Pylon 7on7 brought their national schedule of tournaments to Minnesota on Sunday, and Prep Redzone saw tons of talent from already power five commits, under the radar prospects, and so many more. We take a look at the first position group: The quarterbacks that stood out in at Maple Grove’s Fernbrook Fields on Sunday. Quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id="20215" first="Athan" last="Kaliakmanis"], Antioch (IL)/EFT (2021) Kaliakmanis was straight up lighting it up in Maple Grove on Sunday. The force on his football stood out most to me, defining the throwing "rocket balls" on the football field is what Kaliamanis did best. This Minnesota commit had the eyes of Maple Grove on him a ton on Sunday, showing what will be the future of Gopher football at quarterback. Jr. Tape [player_tooltip player_id="22533" first="Luke" last="McAllister"], Palmer Ridge (CO)/Team Full Gorilla (2021) McAllister looked flawless in pool play for Team Full Gorilla outscoring opponents 48-0 in the early rounds. McAllister’s loaded arm showed great poise and a knack for throwing the ball with a pure touch. It will be a great addition to the Rams recruiting class and a fun watch in the Mountain West in the coming years. Junior Tape [player_tooltip player_id="22744" first="Brayden" last="Dorman"], Vista Ridge (CO), Team Full Gorilla (2023) The top scorer of the tournament with 75 points was [player_tooltip player_id="22744" first="Brayden" last="Dorman"] of Team Full Gorilla. This 2023 prospect won’t be the first player from Vista Ridge you’ll see on our radar in the coming days. What stands out about Dorman’s film is the zip on the football no matter what throw he’s making, short, middle, or deep. A strong 2023 QB that is already on Power 5 school’s radars. Sophomore Tape [player_tooltip player_id="18035" first="Kristoff" last="Kowalkowski"], Totino-Grace (MN) /Potenza (2021) The football IQ of Kowalkowski is what makes him our #1 QB in Minnesota’s 2021 class. On Sunday, Kowalkowski was shown some of the top defenses these states ever have seen and played with that poise and composure to show why the Tommies landed an absolute steal to keep the top QB prospect in the state. Jr. Tape [player_tooltip player_id="18436" first="Luke" last="Floysand"], Cretin Derham-Hall (MN)/Potenza (2022) Floysand was throwing darts every time he got the chance to throw the football on Sunday and scored on every possession he was given. This top 5 QB prospect in Minnesota’s 2022 class will make a solid college prospect and is already hearing from the Northern Sun and FCS programs. Tape from Osseo Connor Gerrell, White Bear Lake (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2022) Gerrell’s quick-release was a nice touch for Twin Cities Aces. A prospect with 18 touchdowns last season for White Bear Lake should be another 2022 QB to keep an eye on from Minnesota’s deep list of quarterbacks in that class. So. Tape Cole Teschner, Schaumburg (IL)/Midwest Boom (2023) Teschner has such a pretty release, and he showed it on Sunday in Maple Grove. His ball gets so much pop on it from just a three-four step drop that I am sure that our Illinois scouts will love to see his development as a nice young QB for Schaumburg HS out of Illinois in the future, as Teschner spent his time on JV for the Saxons. Fr. Tape [player_tooltip player_id="18441" first="Joseph" last="Russell"], Robbinsdale Cooper (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2022) Russell was another Minnesota prospect that threw the ball really well from what I witnessed on Sunday. The versatility Russell offers is the reason he performed at his best for Twin Cities Aces and why he is one of the top QB prospects Minnesota has to offer in the 2022 class, already holding one offer from Northern Iowa, which I’m certain won’t be his last offer in FCS or FBS as the kid has all the tools to be a playmaker at the next level. So. Tape Ashton Gondeck, Carmel Catholic (IL)/Twin Cities Aces (2023) A QB that is extremely mobile but needs some work on his touch on the football. A young player that has some potential out of Lake Zurich. Marist Tape Jack Wojciak, Irondale (MN)/Potenza (2024) One of the youngest QBs on this list is Jack Wojciak of Irondale. Wojciak is a fierce competitor that keeps himself poised by his own coaching. Although he needs to work on his touch on the football and mobility to get outside the pocket, look for this kid to be a prospect you will see in the future on our 2024 rankings. 8th Grade Tape Alessio Milivojevic, St. Francis (IL)/Midwest Boom (2024) This kid is how old?! Millvojevic and his 14U club from Midwest Boom were unreal competitors on Sunday in Maple Grove and also was one of two Boom teams to bring home a championship back to Illinois. What impressed me most was how much touch he already has as just a 13-14-year-old, and has better touch than some upperclassmen I saw on Sunday. With I’m sure another growth spurt coming, Milivojevic has excellent potential to be a prominent QB at St. Francis and in Illinois that will be playing "next level" football when its all said and done. 8th Grade Tape [player_tooltip player_id="49897" first="Jack" last="Kinsey"], Wayzata/Hitmen (2022) Kinsey was a battler on Sunday, taking the under the radar Hitmen to runners up to Midwest Boom. Kinsey may be new to the Hitmen program but fits the mold perfectly being an under the radar QB. Great measurables at 6’6, some decent mobility, and some raw skill could blossom in the right QB system at the college level. Holy Family Tape Other QBs of Note Quan Ward, Robbinsdale Armstrong (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2022) Park Center Tape Cole Heilbrun, Providence Academy (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2023) No Tape.
