[player_tooltip player_id="38579" first="Javyn" last="Wright"] - Senior Quarterback - Vian As opposed to Drummond at Pawhuska, Vian quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38579" first="Javyn" last="Wright"] does just about all of his damage on the ground. He is one of the top rushers in the state and has gotten better after helping lead Vian to the 2A title game a year ago. The Wolverines are off to a 4-0 start and opened district play on Thursday against Keys. They won handily with a 64-0 victory. Wright only played in the first quarter, where he had six carries for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns. For the season, Wright now has 82 carries for 749 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s also 3-5 for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His best game came in week two, when they knocked off John Marshall on the road. He was 2-2 for 120 yards and a touchdown and also added 232 yards and pair of touchdowns on 31 carries in the win.
[player_tooltip player_id="38521" first="Qwontrel" last="Walker"] - Senior Running Back - Stillwater Our final player has been a regular in Oklahoma when it comes to putting up big numbers and being considered one of the best in the state. Stillwater senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="38521" first="Qwontrel" last="Walker"] continues his climb up the state’s all time rushing charts. The Pioneers have only played two games but Walker has been outstanding in both. In wins over Edmond Santa Fe and Mustang, Walker has 53 carries for 503 yards and nine touchdowns. In the victory over Mustang, Walker took the opening play for a touchdown and that put him over 6,000 yards for his career. With their week three game being cancelled, that could hurt Walker’s chances at reaching the record. But he’s still on pace to have another fantastic season and help lead the Pioneers right back to the 6A-D2 state championship game. Be sure to check back every Friday for three more players to be added to our Player Of The Year Watchlist!
