Most teams in Classes 3A through 1A have two games under their belts. There have been a handful of games rescheduled, but it remains Classes 6A-4A that are having more severe issues dealing with COVID regulations.
Having said that here is a group of games scheduled for this week and the players who will impact those Week Three match-ups.
<strong>Class 3A</strong>
<strong>Perry-Lecompton (2-0) at Holton (2-0)</strong>
This game very well could be one of the premier match-ups in Kansas during Week Three.
Perry-Lecompton quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35376" first="William" last="Welch"]</strong> is the highest-ranked player among these two teams in the Class of 2021 Prep Redzone Kansas rankings. Welch, ranked at No. 56 is among the leaders in passing yards in Class 3A with 399. He has also thrown six touchdowns. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35489" first="Thad" last="Metcalf"]</strong> is ranked No. 190 in those same rankings. He leads Perry-Lecompton with 272 yards rushing in 2020. The senior also has six rushing touchdowns. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35453" first="Sean" last="Urban"]</strong> (No. 142) and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35473" first="Hayden" last="Robb"]</strong> (No. 165) are both premier offensive linemen blocking for Welch and Metcalf.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="35496" first="Canon" last="Karn"]</strong> has been leading the Wildcat offense. Karn, a senior, is ranked number 210 in the Class of 2021. He has rushed for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Karn projects to be a JUCO talent and also plays linebacker. Konnor Tannehill, a senior defensive tackle as amassed 11 tackles in Holton’s first two games.
<strong>Class 2A</strong>
Several 2A teams are playing against higher- or lower-class opponents in Week Three. While there does not appear to be an obvious marquee game, there are a couple of games where players could post huge numbers.
<strong>Republic County (2-0) at Minneapolis (0-2)</strong>
Running back <strong>Jared Baxa</strong> has averaged 242 yards a game for Republic County. The senior has scored five rushing touchdowns for the Buffaloes and could easily rush for more than 200 yards against Minneapolis.
<strong>Nickerson (0-2) at Maur Hill Prep (2-0)</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="49696" first="Andrew" last="Schwinn"]</strong> (’21 Ranked No. 101) is not that far behind Baxa in terms of production. The senior running back as rushed for 451 yards and six touchdowns. Schwinn is a premier winner who will get several looks from recruiters as the season moves forward.

<strong>Class 1A</strong>
<strong>Wabaunsee (1-1) at Troy (0-2)</strong>
Two juniors are leading the Wabaunsee offense. Quarterback <strong>Cade Oliver</strong> has thrown for 468 yards and four touchdowns. His primary target has been fellow junior <strong>Tyler Lohmeyer</strong>. Lohmeyer has caught 12 balls for 247 yards receiving and has one touchdown. Keep an eye on this young duo as the season progresses. Senior <strong>Dawson Schultz</strong> has also been a factor in the Chargers’ passing game with three receiving touchdowns and has 121 yards receiving.
