Twin Lakes Conference rival Southeast Valley pulled off both such feats during Week 5 action, earning a 32-23 victory in a meeting of unbeatens.
The Jaguars relied on talented junior quarterback Kolson Kruse, as the threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another score.
A pair of fourth quarter touchdowns highlighted a 24-point second half, as the Jaguars broke an 8-8 tie at the break. Sam Hanson and Tre Fisher caught touchdowns, with Lathe Muench running in three conversions.
SCC’s Cole Corey had three total TDs on the night, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Titans unbeaten.
King Keagan
Seven touchdowns and 324 yards rushing were credited to Gladbrook-Reinbeck star senior running back Keagan Kiesking this past Friday night.
Kiesking’s effort helped his team post a convincing 62-28 victory over Baxter, scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Rebels improved to 5-0 on the season.
After falling behind 16-6 early, G-R posted 16 points in the second and 16 more in the third, shutting out the Bolts in the second half.
Giesking also recorded 6.5 tackles on defense while averaging 12 yards per carry.
Defending Champs Roll Again
West Hancock lost so much production from last year when they rushed to the Class A state title, many expected a drop-off.
Those returning players, though, will have none of that.
Chief among them is senior running back Cole Kelly, who posted a 26-carry, 236-yard, seven-touchdown night as the Eagles improved to 4-1 with a 54-26 victory over Alta-Aurelia.
Kelly is closing in on another 1,000-yard campaign as he sits at 983 yards with 19 touchdowns this year.
Ragaller Does It All For Ar-We-Va
Junior quarterback Will Ragaller put the Ar-We-Va offense on his shoulders in a 50-38 victory over Boyer Valley.
Ragaller completed 11 of 22 passes for 171 yards with two touchdowns while rushing for 277 yards and four scores. He also shined on defense, making 10 tackles with 4.5 for loss and an interception.
That helped top Gavin Reineke’s night, as he threw for 307 yards with five touchdowns for Boyer Valley.
Big Night For Johll
Brayden Johll gave Manson Northwest Webster everything he had, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Johll ran for 312 yards on 31 carries, scoring two touchdowns for the Cougars. It was St. Edmond, though, that pulled out the 39-37 win in double-overtime.
4-For-4 For Flanders
English Valleys now sits at 4-1 thanks in large part to a 47-point first quarter.
The Bears downed Twin Cedars, 70-40, jumping out to a 63-28 lead at the break.
Beau Flanders had just four rush attempts on the night, but he made the most of them, scoring all four times. The junior racked up 178 yards rushing in all.
Kolie, Regals Keep On Trucking
Theo Kolie had 204 yards rushing, 99 yards receiving and four touchdowns as Iowa City Regina cruised past Lisbon in a pivotal showdown.
The Regals improved to 4-1 on the season, dropping the Lions to 3-2 overall.
Ashton Cook Ashton Cook 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Regina Catholic | 2021 IA threw for 259 yards and had four total scores on the night.
Bright Young Star For BGM
BGM and Iowa Valley left the fans with something to never forget, as the Bears moved to 4-1 with a 48-46 victory.
Sophomore quarterback Jacob Maurer had over 500 yards of offense and accounted for seven touchdowns on the night.
After falling behind 24-0 to the Tigers after the first and 38-14 at the half, BGM scored 21 in the third and 13 more in the fourth.
Maurer was 14-for-21 passing for 203 yards with a TD, adding 307 yards and six scores on the ground.
