Recruiting Report: Seyi Oladipo, DB, Eaglecrest 2021

With a decision as to if and when Colorado’s high school football season will be played hopefully coming soon, many top recruits like [player_tooltip player_id="22538" first="Seyi" last="Oladipo"] are weighing their options. The Eaglecrest senior defensive back could commit soon, especially if there is no fall season. Or depending on the decision, he could try to play his way into an extended sheet of offers. But with already nine offers on the table, at least the recruiting process served him well and Oladipo at least knows he’ll be playing Division-I football somewhere. “It’s been a pretty cool process with the people I’ve gotten to meet and the places I’ve gotten to go,” Oladipo said. “It’s kind of weird to think that the process is coming to an end. Right now should be the time when we’re taking officials and doing things like that. But that’s not an option right now. It feels a little like we just need to pick our best option and just take a leap of faith with where we go.” [caption id="attachment_38163" align="alignright" width="300"]<img class="size-medium wp-image-38163" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/07/GunsDownDenver12-300x195.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="195" /> [player_tooltip player_id="22538" first="Seyi" last="Oladipo"][/caption]Being recruited hard by Mountain West Conference schools, Oladipo (6’0, 185 lbs) said he has offers from Eastern Michigan, Colorado State, Air Force, Nevada, Utah State, Army, Wyoming, Boise State, Fresno State. Limited in his exposure by the COVID-19 pandemic restricting things like official visits and recruiting periods, Oladipo said he has at least been able to recently visit some of the cities where schools have offered him. Gaining a sense for where he would be living combined with conversations he has had with coaches at staff members at the schools that have offered him, Oladipo said he has developed a pretty good feel for them all. “With the connections I’ve built with the coaches and the programs I feel like wherever I decide to go, I’m in good hands,” Oladipo said. “That’s feels good to know.” &nbsp; As a junior last season, Oladipo was among the team leaders in tackles, interceptions and pass breakups on a defense that helped the Raptors reach the quarterfinals in Class 5A. He is currently ranked 22nd overall in the Prep Redzone Colorado <a href="https://prepredzone.com/colorado/rankings/2021-rankings/">Class of 2021</a> rankings and will likely see more time on offense as a senior. Oladipo, like so many others, are hoping for a senior season that he believes could have big things in store for Eaglecrest football. “Eaglescrest is going to be a top team again this year,” Oladipo said. “We have all the talent in the world. We just need to know how to execute every game. We were young on defense last year so that means everyone returns. We lost some guys on offense but we have the weapons to replace them. It’ll be a good year.”
