With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
Jaden Penning – AGWSR
Class of 2021’s Jaden Penning had over 1,000 yards of offense last season for AGWSR, as the Cougars racked up over 3,000 yards total.
Penning ran 88 times for 737 yards, scoring on 17 of those attempts. He averaged 8.4 yards per rush while adding 22 receptions for 387 more yards and five TDs.
On defense, Penning was in on 48 tackles while also picking off five passes – two of which he returned for scores. As a punt returner, he averaged 20.5 yards per touch with a TD and fielded four kickoffs at nearly 19 yards per return.

As a junior, Carson Pariseau Carson Pariseau 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Janesville | 2021 IA made quite the impact, rushing for 1,228 yards with 19 touchdowns for Janesville.
Pariseau averaged just under nine yards per rush, adding another 80 yards and two scores in the passing game.
He also played a key role on defense for the Wildcats, making 76.5 tackles with 7.5 being for loss and forcing two turnovers. Pariseau added a kickoff return for a touchdown and averaged 13 yards per punt return.
Brandon Varner – Northwood-Kensett
Maybe teams were confused when he entered, but Brandon Varner made them pay.
Varner, wearing No. 53 for Northwood-Kensett, ran for 689 yards and scored 15 touchdowns last year. The Class of 2021 player returns this year as part of a rushing group that accounted for over 2,400 yards.
On defense, Varner made 44 tackles with 2.5 for loss and a sack. He also recovered a fumble.
Will Bushbaum – Rockford
As a junior, Will Bushbaum nearly joined the 1,000-1,000 club.
Bushbaum completed 73 of 165 passes for 942 yards with 12 touchdowns while rushing 182 times for 994 yards and 10 more scores. He averaged nearly 13 yards per completion and 5.5 yards per attempt on the ground.
Bushbaum also accounted for 15 of Rockford’s 30 converted two-point attempts.
Conner Piehl – Tripoli
While a handful of players threw passes last year for Tripoli, none were more effective than Conner Piehl.
The Class of 2021 signal-caller completed 46 of 84 for 753 yards with 15 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He averaged over 16 yards per completion and had a quarterback rating of over 130.
On the ground, Piehl ran for 493 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He also made 47.5 tackles on defense with three being for loss and picked off three passes.
Piehl even was a key member of the special teams, fielding four punts with two of those being returned for TDs. He averaged almost 40 yards per punt for the Panthers, who went 5-4.
