With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
Kyler Rasmussen – IKM-Manning
IKM-Manning used Kyler Rasmussen to rush for nearly 2,100 yards in 2019.
Rasmussen, a Class of 2021 standout, had 195 carries for 937 yards and 14 scores. All of those numbers led the Wolves, who also featured Class of 2022 player Amos Rasmussen, who had 774 yards and nine scores.
Kyler Rasmussen added a pair of receptions and racked up 75 tackles on defense with six going for loss.
Kole Winkel – Ridge View
Leading receiver Kole Winkel returns for Ridge View in 2020, as the senior provides experience to a deep group.
Winkel hauled in 24 of the 52 completed passes for the Raptors, covering 303 yards with the lone touchdown. He averaged 12.6 yards per reception.
Brady Wiggs – West Monona
West Monona’s Brady Wiggs racked up 501 yards rushing and had 10 receptions in 2019, flashing nice dual-threat abilities.
Wiigs averaged almost five yards per rush, scoring five touchdowns. He finished with 86 yards in the passing game.
On defense, Wiggs accounted for 36.5 tackles with 18 being solo stops and 4.5 for loss.
Jayden McFarland – Westwood
Class of 2021 prospect Jayden McFarland should be primed for an important senior year.
McFarland rushed 47 times for 404 yards with four scores, adding four receptions for 122 yards and two TDs as a junior. That means he scored six times on just 51 touches on offense.
With the two leading rushers and top receiver gone due to graduation, look for the Rebels to focus on McFarland, who also averaged 28 yards per kickoff return.
Jase Manker – Woodbury Central
The Woodbury Central offense will need another big season out of Jase Manker if they want to make another deep playoff run.
Manker, a Class of 2021 prospect, completed 139 of 258 passes for 2,135 yards with 21 touchdowns. He averaged over 15 yards per completion and sported a quarterback rating of 123.4.
The Wildcats went 10-2 last year, reaching the Class A state semifinals before a loss to eventual champion West Hancock. They won 10 in a row, scoring over 30 five times during that stretch.
