- Clark Barrett – Lafayette Central Catholic (Passing Leader)
While leading his team to a state championship, Barrett had a huge sophomore season throwing for 3,134 yards and 35 TD’s. It isn’t often that you see a sophomore QB put up these numbers, and it’s even less often that you see a sophomore QB lead his team to a state championship. That is a testament to Clark’s maturity, poise, and understanding of the game at a young age. His 35 TD to 10 INT ratio is also a stat that catches the eye, because even the most talented young QB’s are prone to mistakes…Clark made few. Listed at 6’5″ 215 on his Hudl, he has the exact frame that college coaches are looking for when recruiting a young QB prospect. He excels at throwing the deep ball and his field vision is outstanding. I expect big things from Clark in the coming years.
- Colton Brown – Heritage Christian (Rushing Leader)
Colton had a breakout year with 1,851 yards rushing and 26 total TD’s. With nine 100+ yard games, including 4 games where he ran for over 200 yards, he was the definition of consistency for Heritage Christian. Not only did he put up big numbers, he protected the ball for his team… While carrying the ball 299 times, he only lost one fumble the entire year. That would be impressive for any age, much less a sophomore in high school. Colton is a patient runner with great balance. He sees the field well, has a great burst, and impressive feet. As he continues to grow and adds a more physical aspect to his game, Brown is sure to give defenses fits in the coming years.
- Noble Johnson – Parke Heritage (Receiving Leader)
Not only did Noble lead the 2022 Indiana class in receiving yardage, he is also the state’s top overall returning receiver statistically. With 72 receptions for 1,292 yards / 17 TD’s, he led all underclassmen in receiving TD’s as well. Listed at 6’1″ 175 on his Hudl, Johnson has great size for a young prospect at the position, and is a big play threat every time he touches the ball. One of his most impressive traits as a player is what he does with the ball after the catch. He was a stud when it came to taking quick throws and making them into big gainers. With a long catch of 80 yards on the season, Noble has the long speed to take it the distance. I’m excited to watch his development in the coming year and beyond.
- Braxton Pruitt – West Noble (Sacks Leader)
The all-state performer spent most of his time in opponents backfield and tallied an impressive 13 sacks on the season. Along with his sack numbers, Braxton also recorded 20 TFL’s and 61 total tackles on the year. If the sack numbers weren’t impressive enough, the fact that he did it at 6’2″ 210 while going up against 300 pound offensive lineman should catch your attention. Braxton is a skilled athlete that uses his explosive first step & speed to cause disruption at the line of scrimmage almost every play. I love his motor and the tenacity he plays the game with. There is little doubt that QB’s will be fearing Braxton in the coming years.
- Caden Curry Caden Curry 6'5" | 265 lbs | DL Center Grove | 2022 State IN – Center Grove (TFL’s)
Already a national recruit as a sophomore, Curry had an incredible 26.5 tackles for loss on the year. Along with leading his class in TFL’s, he notched 10.5 sacks which was second in his class behind Braxton Pruitt. Listed at 6’5″ 250, he is extremely athletic for a big man, and the prototype when it comes to a college DL prospect. With incredible explosiveness off the ball, he can beat offensive lineman with speed or power, and can single handedly collapse the line of scrimmage. Caden is a rare talent that should excel at the highest level of college football, and could have a chance to play on Sunday’s.
- Isaiah Wolf – Osceola Grace (Interceptions)
The sophomore from Osceola Grace led all Indiana 2022’s with 7 interceptions on defense last season. The stat is kind of ironic when you consider the fact that he is also the Eagles QB when he isn’t busy being a ballhawk on D. He doesn’t just play both ways, he is a standout on both sides of the ball. Isaiah passed for 1,616 yards / 20 TD’s, rushed for another 391 yards / 4 TD’s, and had two games in which he rushed for over 100 yards. Anytime a player brings this much to the table, they become extremely valuable for their team. With great feet, quickness, and speed… Isaiah would probably be considered an ATH recruit at this time, but I see his skill-set as being a perfect fit for defensive back in college. I am fairly certain that you will be hearing a lot more about him as a college prospect in the coming years!
