Who doesn’t love a friendly competition battle? What if that competition was your family member? What if your competition was your brother? Blood Brother at that.. Could you imagine what your football life and outside life would be like? Well, that is the case for the Michael Brothers, featuring Ty and Colt Michael. They both compete against each other EVERY DAY that they step on the same field for the same position! [player_tooltip player_id="20229" first="Ty" last="Michael"] QB: O’Fallon Township High School The 6’3, 185lb eldest brother in the Michael family is a Senior this year. When you look at Ty, you can see a complete QB who has that IT factor to his game. He is most definitely a hard nose football player, not backing down from any challenge that stands in his way. Ty is a phenomenal passer with great accuracy but will tuck the ball away if needed to get those rushing yards or TDS. Ty has improved his game and his physical build a lot since last year. In 2019, Ty weighed in at 170lbs and has gained a solid 15lbs. He has recently been training at Elite Football Academy in Chesterfield, MO as a way to enhance his overall game. He has spent much more time watching and breaking down last season’s film with his Head Coach as another way to improve. During this process, he reflects on his game decisions, and most importantly what he could have done differently. Ty took a major note from last season to put an emphasis on his decision-making skills, as well as his mechanics which are two of the most important tools to becoming a star QB who can compete at the next level. Last season, Ty threw for 1,400 passing yards and a total of 7TDs. He has already set a goal for himself this upcoming season to throw over 3,000 passing yards along with 25 passing TDs. One thing that is unique about Ty is that he scouts all Quarterbacks in the area to see how he matches up against them. He looks at stats, playing style, and even mechanics and soaks everything up. Colleges can expect to get a dynamic player when it comes to [player_tooltip player_id="20229" first="Ty" last="Michael"]. He is an athlete who is seeking to compete at the next level in which he will be fueled by the pressure and responsibility. He feels he hasn’t even come close to reaching his peak yet in which he knows he still has a lot of time for growth, both mentally and physically. Big Brother [player_tooltip player_id="20229" first="Ty" last="Michael"] wants everybody to put the O’Fallon Panthers on their radar if they have a season! Colt Michael QB: O’Fallon Township High School The youngest brother in the Michael family stands at 6’1 and weighs in at 175lbs. Colt Michael has an extremely bright future ahead of him as he is only a sophomore this year. Colt is in a great position being Ty’s younger brother & also the backup QB for the O’ Fallon Panthers. Although all the attention might be on Ty, that automatically helps draw exposure to Colt as well. As the younger brother, you can imagine always seeming to be in the shadow of your older brother. However, that may or may not be the case for Colt depending on how you see his situation. Colt has taken these last few months to really enhance his game. Last year, Colt weighed in at 150lbs but has been in the weight room since which helped him add on an additional 25lbs! He has also been preparing himself mentally to learn how to breakdown coverages. Even though Colt did not spend much time on the field at the Varsity level, he has learned a lot from his older brother Ty’s success as well as mistakes. Colt had the opportunity to compete in 7 on 7 tournaments in Las Vegas, with his club team in which he came out as the tournament MVP which created a lot of exposure for himself. He plans to take that confidence from those tournaments and use it this upcoming season. Colt definitely has a lot of raw talent but he is a workhorse and will never settle for yesterday’s performance. He identifies himself as his biggest competitor and feels the game of football is all mental for him, he will not allow the game circumstances or atmosphere to dictate his performance. What fuels him to get better each day is seeing the benefits of what football has done and can do for him. He has developed great leadership qualities and sees this experience as an opportunity to go to school for free as a gift back to his parents for all of the hard work that they have done for him and his brother. It’s not hard to say that Colt Michael is very determined to bring the winning tradition back to O’Fallon Football! Ty & Colt Michael are always competing on and off the field but it is all love at the end of the day. They will let each other know who had a better practice but they use it as motivation for one another to get better. Any school would be blessed to have these two bright QBs, separately or together!
