Overview:This offensive line group is extremely deep & talented. To me, it’s the best position group in the 2021 class, making it that much harder to make a Top 20 list. The following players were Honorable Mention for our list and finished just outside our rankings. Coran Woods, Oswego East, 6’4, 275A big man who moves like a deer. He’s physical at the point of attack and plays with excellent hand placement. I think he can play all three positions on the offensive line at the next level.John Golden, Glenbard South, 6’4, 255A physical interior offensive line prospect who will put defenders on their back. He plays with a low pad level and great knee bend.Alvin Gulley, Belleville West, 6’2, 285A smaller OL prospect who projects as a center at the next level. Man, is he a mauler! This kid plays angry and does a great job climbing to the next level. He’s an intriguing interior DL prospect as well. Mike Gatz, Marian Central Catholic, 6’3, 280A true center who can block back on a 3 technique with ease. He excels on double teams and consistently keeps his head up for when to get off them.Jake Borman, Burlington Central, 6’4, 300I would not want to get trapped by this guy. Once he gets his hands on you, good luck getting away. He plays fundamentally sound with overall good technique.Ryan Gudaitis, Hersey, 6’4, 260This kid looks huge on tape. He continuously drives his feet and seems to always turn the defender where he doesn’t want to go. He does a great job of playing with a low base.Sean Ohara, Nazareth, 6’4, 300This kid has as strong of a punch as anyone in the Top 20. He has surprisingly quick feet in his pass set for a guy his size. Ohara does a great job of always looking for work until the whistle blows.Blaize Schellenger, Breese Mater Dei, 6’4, 270A small school kid who shines as an inside zone scheme blocker. He has the ability to block outside zone as well and does a great job cutting backside.Devin Hale, Sacred Heart-Griffin, 6’3, 280Another true center prospect who may be just as talented as a nose tackle. He does a great job of punching on a rise and has an outstanding lateral set.Torrence Gresham, Phillips, 6’1, 305A tough interior offensive line prospect, who has the ability to reach-block down lineman. He’s at his best when doubling with his right tackle and consistently puts the defender in the dirt.Nick Pierce, Richards, 6'1, 260
I found out about Nick late from his high school coach and I'm glad I did. Despite being a smaller prospect at 6'1, this kid plays angry and understands leverage. He moves extremely well and is talented enough to reach multiple different defensive tackle shades. He could be one of the best true centers in IL's 2021 class.
