As we move closer and closer to the start of the football season, it is important that we highlight as many players as possible.
With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="23915" first="Jaden" last="O’Brien-Green"] - Clear Lake</strong>
For the past few years, Clear Lake has featured a more pass-first offensive attack under the guidance of Jaylan DeVries.
Now that DeVries is at Southern Illinois, you might see the Lions rely even more on the ground game and Class of 2021 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="23915" first="Jaden" last="O’Brien-Green"].
Last year alongside DeVries, O’Brien-Green cracked the 1,000-yard mark, rushing for 1,015 yards and 10 touchdowns on 150 carries. He averaged almost seven yards per attempt and added another 58 yards on six receptions.
<strong>Brandon Leber - Forest City</strong>
One of the main returning players for Forest City on offense will be Brandon Leber.
Last season, the Class of 2021 Leber led the Indians with 26 receptions for 421 yards with three touchdowns. He posted over 16 yards per touch and will look to offset the losses of Riley Helgeson and Kristian Gunderson.
<strong>Karson Sharar - Iowa Falls-Alden</strong>
He might be a top basketball prospect, but Karson Sharar from Iowa Falls-Alden is also a talent on the football field.
Sharar, one of the leading returning scorers in the state, ran for 1,000 yards with 15 touchdowns as a junior. He averaged just over six yards per carry and also showed his strong hands with 12 receptions for 114 yards and a score.
Sharar saw time on defense, as well, picking up 29 tackles with five being for loss and forcing four turnovers, one of which was an interception returned for a score.
On special teams, Sharar averaged almost 20 yards per kickoff return and took the only punt he saw back 75 yards for a score.
<strong>Adam McIlrath - Roland-Story</strong>
The leader for Roland-Story is University of Iowa commit [player_tooltip player_id="23820" first="Zach" last="Twedt"], but he is not the only standout from the Class of 2021 for the Norsemen.
Adam McIlrath caught 11 passes for a team-high 302 yards with two scores a year ago, averaging 27.5 yards per catch. He also was a force on defense like Twedt, racking up 71 tackles with 52 being solo stops.
<strong>Brayden Evertson - West Marshall</strong>
He might not wear a normal wide receiver number, but Brayden Evertson from West Marshall posted some strong numbers in that part of the offense last year.
Evertson led the Trojans with 36 receptions for 668 yards and four touchdowns, averaging almost 19 yards per touch.
On defense, he recorded 58 tackles including nine sacks and 21.5 stops for loss to go along with two fumble recoveries.
