Under the Radar ’21 – Interior offensive linemen

Under the Radar ’21 – Interior offensive linemen

Part two of our series of stories highlighting some top talent in the Class of 2021 – who do not have many – if any offers – yet. These are all guys we feel will – especially with big senior seasons – have offers down the road. Right now, they are just under the radar. Today, we focus on the guys near and dear to my heart – interior offensive linemen. As an undersized (and under-talented) center in high school, I never hesitate to give some of the most anonymous guys on the field some recognition. [player_tooltip player_id="18218" first="Max" last="Soeth"] – C Moorhead Soeth plays to the echo of the whistle. Always finishing his blocks, he appears to play the position with a ton of passion. He gets rid of the ball and gets out of his stance well and has nice hip turn while engaged with a defender. When asked to move to the second level, the 6’2" 250-pound junior can stay with linebackers. He is currently receiving DII and DIII interest. [player_tooltip player_id="18197" first="John" last="Collins Jr."] – LG Minneapolis North Collins just looks like he should be playing guard at the next level. He has a low center of gravity with a powerful lower body. The 5’11" 295-pound junior works well in tight spaces but is quick enough to get to the next level. He is light on his feet for a guy his size – giving him good lateral movement. Collins has drawn interest from schools at the DII and DIII levels. Riley Bower - RG Rogers Bower is a powerful run blocker. He has a compact build – giving him much of his power. The junior comes off the ball with low hips, and he explodes into defenders. Like Soeth, Bower finishes blocks often still driving his man long after the play is far away from him or with the defender lying on his back. Even with his power, he has good enough feet to be an effective pulling guard. [player_tooltip player_id="18165" first="Jake" last="Schetinski"] – G/C Mahtomedi I would not want to be in a phone booth with Schetinski. He is a physical interior blocker who can dominate in close combat. The 6’3" 270-pound junior comes off the ball low and with explosion into defenders. He plays with a wide base. His good hips and knee bend make him hard to move off the ball. Schetinski has position flexibility – seeing time as a guard and center during his junior year. [player_tooltip player_id="18160" first="David" last="Nyan"] – G/T Park Center Nyan is another guy who benefits his team with position flexibility. He has experience at guard and tackle. He has good length inside and uses his wingspan to get separation in pass protection. The 6’3" 260-pound junior has the footwork of a tackle. It helps him both playing inside and on the edge with pass blocking and his ability to move to the second level.
