is one of the state’s elite pass catchers in the 2022 class. The 6’2, 180 pound junior to be had an impressive sophomore campaign, where he showed big-play potential. Criter’s 2019 film revealed to me that he had FBS level talent. He has a good mixture of size, speed & route running ability that separates him from the pack. I asked him what schools have reached, and as of right now, it’s just one program from the Big 12, “I have been receiving some interest from Iowa State.” He also informed he hadn’t taken any visits just yet. Criter really isn’t too worried about his recruiting at the moment, and rightfully so, he’s only a sophomore. It’s my belief that schools will come calling soon and he doesn’t have too much to worry about. In the meantime, he’s been working extremely hard this offseason,
“I have been living in the weight room. I have gained 8 pounds of solid muscle since quarantine. I have an at-home gym, but I also train at a private facility in Westmont. I have been there for about a month, and all workouts are football-specific.”
With the IHSA passing new legislation, it looks like we’re that much closer to football.
Adam let me know that’s he’s more than ready to get back on the field,
“I am looking forward to showing coaches not only my ability but also my team’s ability. Our relationships and chemistry makes our team a family. I’ve been itching to get out on the field again on Friday nights.”
This season is going to look a whole lot different from a positional standpoint for Criter. He informed me that he’d be lining up at quarterback this fall for the Trojans. He’ll replace Drew Cassens, who graduated and is moving on to play at NIU. Adam doesn’t expect their offense to take a step back and has high expectations for himself, “Number one, I want to have a 12+ TD’s this year using my feet as well as throwing the ball at QB.”
Criter has high expectations entering 2020, but he knows how important the quarterback position is and that he needs to be a constant learner. I asked him what he thinks he could improve on,
“I feel like I can study the game more. This year, I am slated to play QB. I need to know not only my job but also the job of my teammates. I want to be a student of the game and learn all of the in’s and outs.”
Downers Grove North lost it’s entire offense minus Criter, to graduation. The Trojans will look to him not only as a playmaker but also as a leader. The Trojans have been a perennial playoff team, and don’t expect to take any steps back. Beyond football, Criter is an excellent student, who maintains a 3.7 GPA and has been on the Honor Roll since entering DGN. Criter, may not have a ton of recruiting attention just yet, but I fully expect that to heat up with another big season. This kid is ultra-talented and understands the game of football. It’s my belief that some college will see that very soon.
