320 Recruiting Report: Ethan Torgrimson/Sartell-St. Stephen (2021)

SARTELL-- We venture up to a St. Cloud suburb for your late Wednesday morning recruiting report. Nate from Northstar Football News chatted with Ethan Torgrimson who is an ATH from the Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres and is a versatile, all-around player that plays on both sides of the ball. We chatted with Torgrimson about his strengths, his recruiting trail, and much more! Get to Know Ethan Torgrimson One thing I've learned about the ATH position in the last few years is you can find multiple roles for a usually undersized player that is so versatile they can be used anywhere on the field. You get a little more size with Ethan Torgrimson of Sartell-St. Stephen at 6'0 200 pounds. Torgrimson was one of a just a couple juniors in the St. Cloud area, that was selected All-District and All-Metro. The biggest strengths Torgrimson has is being positionless, as his skill set is the sky's the limit depending on where you place him. Torgrimeson adapts very quickly at any position you put him which is what makes him so versatile. He's also got great endurance for those long 80 to 90-yard drives you may need to put together to succeed at the next level. Favorite Parts About Being an Athlete The most favorite thing Torgrimson enjoys is running the football as he ran for almost 1000 yards rushing last season and had 9 touchdowns. The ability to contribute to the Sabres on both sides of the football and making plays where they need to be made is another favorite of Torgrimson. Torgrimson is a very results-oriented player, so when he and his team make big plays, it excites him even more. College Interest/Elevator Pitch to Coaches Thus far, Torgrimson has had a game day visit at North Dakota and is attending junior day for the Fighting Hawks as well, but that's not the only program he's being pursued by. He's gotten junior day offers from Southwest Minnesota State, MSU-Moorhead, Bemidji State, UW-River Falls, UW-Eau Claire, Minot State, St. Olaf and from the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul. As for his elevator pitch to the next level, this is what Torgrimson had to say below. "My pitch would be that I will always be a competitor and I bring versatility anywhere you put me. I promise I will work harder than anyone on the team." Improving For His Senior Year When Torgrimson is playing linebacker, his Sabres coaching staff said he needs to learn to get lower in his stance when trying to grind up a ball carrier, etc. Torgrimson is a player that takes constructive criticism to heart, as he's done countless drills already this offseason to improve his stance at the linebacker position as he "wants to do the best he can," Ethan told NFN. Torgrimson has had no problem hitting the weight room in his high school years, as this three-sport athlete has been active in basketball, wrestling, and track during his high school years which also brings him to the weight room year-round. Ethan's Mentor The biggest football mentor is Ethan's life is Sartell-St. Stephen coach Jake Sailor as Sailor is so relatable to Torgrimson. "He’s young enough where we can relate and he wants me to succeed and that makes me work even harder," Ethan said about his mentor on the Sabres coaching staff. Sailor also plays that second father figure to Ethan, as Sailor can also give him the tough love on and off the field if he needs it. Learning from the 2019 Season Most of us reading this have watched the TV show, Friday Night Lights (it should be a requirement for all football players and coaches in my opinion). When Tim Riggins talks to his Dillon Panthers teammates and says "No Regrets", it's very similar to what Ethan Torgrimson told NFN on early Monday morning that he doesn't want to have that regret when he hits college, that he should have done more to get better and where he wants to go. Torgrimson was selected to be a captain in his senior season so he knows he needs to "become a better leader" and live a "positive legacy" to the underclassmen before he leaves Sartell. His big goal and his team's goal is simple, and that's to win ball games. He knows he'll need to stay consistent in the weight as he has done, but he needs to push the other guys to be in the gym with him. School is also important to Torgrimson, as he's done well in the classroom and wants to improve his grades even more. I would recommend watching the downhill speed Torgrimson possesses on his Hudl tape (click here), especially over the first minute.
