101 (almost) Bouncebacks: St. Cloud State/UM-Crookston Recruiting Mega List
When Division II Northern Sun competitors St. Cloud State and the University of Minnesota-Crookston decided to terminate their football programs on December 10th of 2019 under a new bylaw put into place by the NSIC that allows conference members to stay in the Northern Sun without having a football team, the affects would reach far wider than the couple hundredish student athletes comprising the two football squads. With Augustana leaving the conference soon, the fate of the whole NSIC remains in jeopardy with the loss of the two teams, and rosters throughout Division II, Division III, NAIA, and even the FCS will have picked up new transfers come summer, and as MN West (Juco) Coach Tyler Skow told me in regards to his junior college players getting recruited to the Northern Sun or higher: “We had guys that had been talking to *various schools at different division*…then coaches went ghost on kids. (It became) such a buyer’s market (as) why would these schools take a JUCO guy when you can get guys that have been in a D2 program already.” It’s a great point, and really made me realize the impact this decision has made on football players all throughout the Midwest. It was also a decision as impactful as it was surprising, and it goes without saying that the people affected the most by this move were the players and coaches rostered by the Huskies and the Golden Eagles. Having to undergo a completely different recruiting process since their high school or junior college days, student-athletes from both schools have been offered by and committed to schools of all levels all around the country, and this special feature presented by Northstar Football News will hopefully aid in helping to sort and organize the landing spots or lack thereof of as many of these D2 bouncebacks as I could find. I hope you like the article and if possible, can use it to help find some of these kids new homes. Enjoy this feature: “101 Bouncebacks.” *statistics accredited to Crookston’s 2019 Roster and SCSU’s 2019 Roster

85) Dileita Dileita (5’10, 150 lbs.) Fargo, North Dakota. Redshirt Freshman. DB. @tumblr1246 Crookston->?

89) Alex Adams (6’3, 205 lbs.) Wheaton, Illinois. Sophomore. WR. @adams14alex UW-Stevens Point->SCSU->?
Another potentially positive storyline from this unfortunate situation is 6’3, 205 lb. WR Alex Adams. An All-Conference HM pick as a high schooler at Wheaton North, Adams originally enrolled to play football at UW-Stevens Point, but he bet on himself and moved up a division to join the Huskies roster in 2019. After recording no statistics and reopening his recruitment in December, Adams‘ recruitment has blown up and he’s received a D1 offer from Valparaiso University, a PWO from D1 Eastern Illinois, and offers from Southwest Minnesota State, Judson, and Quincy. He could find himself on a Division 1 roster after these terminations, some light in a bleak situation. HUDL
90) (6’1, 185 lbs.) Eden Prairie, Minn. Sophomore. DB. @kylerkluge SCSU->?
I really liked Kluge’s senior year Hudl at Eden Prairie H.S. (EP Hudl) on yet another state championship run for one of Minnesota’s best football squads, and he proved to be worth the hype as he appeared in seven games and recorded three tackles as a true freshman and two tackles in six games in 2019. As a prep, according to his SCSU bio, Kluge “was an all-conference player in both football and basketball during his career with Eden Prairie. With the football team, Kluge was a 3x letter winner and earned First Team All-State, All-Metro and All-District honors his senior season. In 2017, he captained the Eagles to the 6A state championship title, thanks to a 38-17 victory over Minnetonka. Kluge also made state tournament appearances in football in 2015 and 2016 with the Eagles. In the sport of basketball, Kluge broke the school’s 27 year-old-record for single-season assists.” Not bad, and #7 for the Huskies and has reported zero offers or a commitment since the program has been cut.

94) Ethan Parker (5’11, 185 lbs.) Boise, Idaho. Redshirt Senior. Punter. @ethanparker324 SCSU->?
Another interesting story out of this whole ordeal, the grad student Parker made “his collegiate kicking debut with the Huskies after punting and kicking recreationally throughout his life. As a student at the University of Idaho, Parker was a Dean’s List student while maintaining a GPA of 3.3. He received the Farmhouse Fraternity Centennial Scholarship during his undergraduate career and will join the St. Cloud State roster as a graduate student.” He still has eligibility remaining and has reported no offers.
