The Suburban East Battle That Never Disappoints: East Ridge @ Cretin-Derham Hall
Tonight, Northstar Football News took in the epic battle of Suburban East foes, the East Ridge Raptors vs. the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders. Our contributor, Nate Wahl provides the game summary for this Suburban East battle.
This game started off as a huge defensive battle, but the Raiders were able to drive the ball down the field and get a 10-yard touchdown from RB <strong>Tony Underwood </strong>in the 1<sup>st</sup> quarter. Mid way thru the 2<sup>nd</sup> quarter, Cretin-Derham Hall QB <strong>Preston Thelemann </strong>found WR <strong>Tyson Schilling</strong> for a big 53-yard touchdown to put the Raiders up 14-0 midway thru the 2<sup>nd</sup> quarter. The Raptors decided to wake up big after that score by CDH with a game changing 66-yard run for a TD from a player I featured in my program profile on East Ridge, RB <strong>KJ Moore.</strong> East Ridge then struck again when QB <strong>Riley Larson </strong>drove down the field and pushed in a 1-yard QB sneak to place the game at 14-14 which would follow into halftime. East Ridge brought the momentum into halftime with a chip on their shoulder with back to back touchdowns on the Raiders.
The 3<sup>rd</sup> quarter continued to be a defensive battle with no scoring from either squad until the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter. The 4<sup>th </sup>quarter got started with a big throw from <strong>Thelemann </strong>to under utilized WR <strong>Marselio Mendez </strong>who got the 4<sup>th </sup>quarter going with a 59-yard catch to the end zone putting the Raiders up 21-14. Again, the defense followed back and forth for both teams, but unfortunately was followed by a <strong>KJ Moore </strong>injury in the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter really put a dagger in the Raptors offense as <strong>Moore </strong>was the offensive star for the Raptors with 21 carries, 125 yards, and 1 TD. The game was closed out at the end of the 4<sup>th</sup> quarter by a 25-yard field goal by K <strong>Jimmy Reardon </strong>which put the Raiders up for good for a 24-14 lead which would be the final score at St. Thomas.
