<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Winona returns a majority of its starters from last year’s runner-up squad, making them the clear No. 1 team in Class AAAA. 14 players return, including eight on offense, led by two-way lineman <strong>Nick Waldo</strong>, who will assume the leadership role up front after <strong>Jacob Stanislawski’s</strong> graduation.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Almost the entire roster of offensive skill players returns for the Winhawks. <strong>Logan Smith</strong> and <strong>Dakota Matthees</strong> are two big, athletic targets on the outside for quarterback <strong>Riley Bosteter</strong>. <strong>Dan Jonsgaard</strong> and <strong>Robert Warren</strong> will get the bulk of the carries in the running game.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The defense won’t be as experienced, but two players are back at each position group, including Waldo and <strong>Bryce Heftman</strong> up front. Jonsgaard and <strong>Jonah Boelter</strong> will be the veterans at linebacker, but the loss of <strong>Brody Hogenson</strong>, leading tackler for two straight seasons, will need to be addressed.</span></span></p>
