The testing results illustrate an RB with the size, speed, and burst to play at the next level. Turn on the tape and it is even more impressive than the numbers. Gist also brings vision, instincts, and decisiveness to the field. Zion finds blocks and seams quickly and attacks them between the tackles and out in space. The long speed translates as he rips off big play after big play while beating pursuit angles. Zion is clearly an explosive back. Get him on your radar now.

Zion Gist immediately captured my attention the moment he set foot on the field on Sunday. Standing at  6’0″ and weighing in at 187 lbs, he exudes an impressive presence. His performance during running back drills was impressive, showcasing impeccable footwork and agility that set him apart. What truly stood out, was his versatility on display during the one-on-one sessions with linebackers. Running precise routes, he effortlessly demonstrated his ability to run clean routes and ability to catch. I believe his recruiting will heat up this offseason.

I really like the game that Zion has developed. He is a well rounded athlete who has made highlight plays as a runner, receiver, and blocker. You will see him line up at RB and out at WR. As a runner, Gist is a slasher between the tackles. He is quick to pick his spots, and uses his explosive burst to get up field quickly. Gist can also flip a switch and go from speedster to power runner when defenders close on him. He lowers his shoulder and finishes his carries with violence when ended. The game breaking speed once Zion hits the open field is there too. I’m very excited to follow Zion’s career. He is a versatile athlete.

Gist is a 6’0, 185 lbs running back who is ready to take on a big role for one of the state’s top programs in Lincoln-Way East. Gist impressed in his sophomore season, as his rare combination of size, power, and speed set him up to be the featured back for the Griffins in his junior campaign. Gist is a downhill and physical runner who looks to run through anything in his path. He runs with low pad level and puts his shoulder down to drive through tacklers, almost always falling forward for positive yards. Gist is the type of back who refuses to let one guy tackle him and won’t ever step out of bounds without delivering the final blow. Look for Gist to have a breakout year for LWE’s offense.

A standout performer at our PRzIL spring showcase, Lincoln Way-East RB Zion Gist Zion Gist 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB/WR Lincolnway East | 2025 State IL is also a strong track & field competitor in the big-school Illinois ranks and has competed at the Iowa, UIndy, and Northwestern prospect camps this summer. He put up one of the better 40 times at our spring showcase, and also possesses length, which helps him slip through weaker tackle attempts at his lower body, physicality and contact balance, and the ability to drop his hips at the top of the route and create separation as a route runner out of the slot.
