Expert Analysis
Ellis Williams | Prep Redzone Scout
Marble is the heartbeat of a 3-4 quarters defense that asks its inside backers to run and trigger. At roughly 200 pounds and one of the team’s fastest athletes, he brings a “see it, shoot it” style without sacrificing pursuit angles. As last year’s second-leading tackler, he showed range sideline-to-sideline, scraping over the top of pullers and closing space on perimeter screens. He picked up right where he left off last season. Through six games, Marble has 65 tackles. His speed lets STMA spin safeties, adjust fronts, and still fit the box with confidence; Marble’s communication pre-snap and his post-snap decisiveness reduce gray areas for the front. He’s comfortable carrying seams in match-quarters and blitzing A/B gaps to create single blocks for the nose. The next step is stacking more ball production—punch-outs and tips—while adding strength to defeat climbs from bigger guards. With another season of high-volume, high-speed play, Marble projects a college WILL/MIKE hybrid who can be a core special teamer on day one and a defensive centerpiece as he adds weight.
