If you are looking for a big powerful linebacker, look no further than the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Tafoya. The Liberal middle linebacker brings a world of hurt to opposing offenses due to his size, strength and hard hitting style of play. His lateral movement is very impressive for a player of his size. Also an effective fullback for the Redskins.
This past fall he had 90 tackles in 10 games. He also recorded seven tackles for loss and two sacks on the season.

, Tafoya will be getting plenty of looks from FBS, FCS and D-II programs from all corners of the country.
This past season he was a Honorable Mention 5A All-State and Second Team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree at linebacker. Keep an eye on him throughout the summer and this coming fall when it comes to his play and offers. He also carries a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.

Tafoya already has the look of a college linebacker. Possessing very good size, speed and strength. He shows the ability to play inside and outside as a linebacker. Sideline to sideline player who is always looking to play downhill with bad intentions. Sets the edge very nicely.
Also excels as a tough nosed runner and blocker on the offensive side of the ball. A prospect all colleges should be all over.

There’s a few defenders from this class that folks should be excited about this season. Some have already been mentioned, but another to keep in mind is Xavier Tafoya Xavier Tafoya 6'2" | 235 lbs | ATH/LB Liberal | 2026 State KS of Liberal. Tafoya is one of the more physically imposing players in the class, and his weight room numbers can back that up. His early development helped earn him some varsity time in 2022, as he recorded 22 total tackles in four games. Tafoya is currently listed as a defensive end on Liberal’s roster, but his frame fits the mold of a linebacker. Liberal is sure to use the 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect in a variety of ways on defense. He checked in at No. 44 overall in the recent update.
