Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Cruz completed 61 percent of his passes for 2409 yards with 26 touchdowns and just eight interceptions last season and ran for 492 yards with five touchdowns for Perris last season.
He has since transferred to Lincoln of San Diego. As a passer, he is very smooth mechanically and has a very quick release. Cruz is accurate outside the numbers and has nice touch on the deeper throws. Perris didn’t dial up a lot of designed runs for Cruz, but he is a gifted scrambler who can pick up big chunks of yardage with his legs and is dangerous when he gets to the outside.

Cruz had just 14 completions as a freshman for Perris last season but four of those were touchdown passes and he didn’t throw an interception.
He has good pocket awareness and a smooth delivery. Cruz has nice touch on the deep throws and makes quick decisions with the ball. He’s a smaller guy who will improve when his body develops, but the technique and football IQ seems to be there.
