Owens led Tesoro in tackles last season with 95 tackles, had five for a loss and 24 quarterback hits.
He has good short area quickness and while he doesn’t get a ton of sacks, his speed as a pass rusher forces a lot of bad throws from quarterbacks. As a run defender, he plays downhill and can lay big hits on ball carriers. Sometimes he engages offensive linemen at the second level for a split second too long, but he has the strength to shake those blocks and set up teammates for tackles. He has solid speed and can chase down plays from the other side of the field.

Owens, a returning showcase-attendee, is coming off a strong junior season for Tesoro in which he led the team in total tackles with 95 (67 solo) and 5 TFLs. On Sunday, he looked more developed athletically than when we first saw him last January and showed some promising tools in coverage to go along with the strength and physicality he showed as a run defender in his junior film. He’s quick to read and react to his keys and flashed some fluidity moving laterally at the camp. Expect Owens’ stock to heat up in the coming months.

Owens led Tesoro in tackles with 95 and had 23 hurries as a junior.
He has added some serious size since he competed at a Prep Redzone Showcase last January and got valuable varsity experience. Owens has good short-area quickness and is always in the right spot when defending the run. He is a hard hitter and will blow up the running back when blitzing on pass plays.
Owens has the explosiveness and straight away speed and I’m excited to see if he has improved his lateral quickness in person on Sunday.

Owens is another guy whose film is mostly from JV games.
He has added some size since the fall and has solid lateral quickness. Owens is an aggressive tackler at the JV level and does a good job shaking blocks at the second level.
Owens will get a chance to start as a junior and inside linebackers at Tesoro traditionally rack up tackle numbers.

Owens is a rising 2026 LB that showed promising size (6’/205), speed and athleticism at Sunday’s showcase. He tested well finishing in the top three of every category among LBs and showed his range in the 1v1 period. Owens is a sophomore to keep an eye on as he makes the leap to varsity next season.
