The Mavs had one of the more potent offensive units from the 4A ranks this past season with LaRue at the forefront of those efforts. This senior ball carrier put forth a breakout season that saw LaRue rush for 2,052 yards and 29 rushing scores while also producing 300 yards receiving and four touchdowns. His presence in the backfield was a key catalyst towards a big season for the Mavericks that saw them fall one game away from a state title appearance. LaRue is also a hidden gem that still sits available on the open market and could be a guy that is just coming into his own as a potential college prospect.

The Mavs offense has been rock solid all year long and I think have gained good balance due to the emergence of LaRue at the running back position. Rushing for almost 1,500 yards this season, LaRue has proved to be a game changer that’s in position to become a candidate for 4A Mr. Football. The Mavs would like to run the ball first before anything and with a guy like LaRue, they can rely on him and their offensive line throughout the coming playoffs. Running the ball and playing good defense is key in the postseason, so having a guy like LaRue is a major piece in the Mavs arsenal.

Nice-sized cornerback who plays heads-up football. Stays with assignments, effectively diagnoses plays, and fires upfield defending the run. Incredibly instinctive, diagnoses plays before they unfold, and is constantly around the action. Times pass defenses and works to get off blocks to make plays against screen passes. Opportunistic and moves to the ball consistently.

is a highly competitive player and combines his speed to make plays all over the field. His YAC ability is the hallmark to his game. LaRue shows very good foot quickness, lateral agility, and COD to make plays out in space. He is also elusive and slippery in tight spaces with solid balance through arm tackles. After watching the film, he is a WR that play like an RB. LaRue is also a high impact special teams player in all phases.
