About Tyson
Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Sweetwood is a overall very impressive athlete and can play multiple positions on either side of the ball at the next level. He is a true dual-threat signal caller with a strong arm, accuracy in tight windows and can deliver on-schedule throws both across the middle and on outbreaking routes. With his legs, he shows he can buy time when scrambling, execute designed runs inside and can throw across his body without losing zip on the ball with good spin and throw power when squaring his shoulders and stepping into it. Another prospect that has been stacking good weeks, he had another strong showing last week accounting for 3 touchdowns and nearly 200 total yards of offense. Hillcrest has a big time battle this week with Twin Falls after a 35-14 win over Lakeland last weekend.

Sweetwood is one of the more exciting and explosive players to watch across Idaho and is a true dual-threat signal caller with a live arm and does tons of damage with his legs on the ground with long speed and a quick burst to get outside the pocket. He shows he can zip the ball into tight windows, puts good air under his throws over the top and throws with anticipation and leads his receivers open away from defenders. A true improviser in the pocket, Sweetwood buys time with his legs, shows he can throw on the run without losing spin on the ball and is perhaps the best available signal callers left across the state. Currently he holds one offer from Carroll College.

Sweetwood is one of the top signal callers across the state of Idaho, and checks into our rankings as a top ten player in our 2026 rankings. He has had a very productive Spring so far, and picked up a recent offer from Carroll College, one of the top NAIA schools in the country. He is a big armed prospect and a elite athlete that can buy time with his legs and make plays outside the pocket with ease and has nice upside in college. Heading into his Senior year, Sweetwood will be one of the more dynamic and explosive play-makers across the region and should draw plenty of college interest and offers across multiple levels.

Sweetwood is coming off a truly breakout Junior season campaign and has the ideal frame for the quarterback position. Checking into our rankings as a top three player at his position and inside the top ten overall, he was the 5-A player of the year in 2024 it is a no-brainer next level Kid coming off a state title win. He moves extremely well for his size, evading pressure off the edge and stepping up into the pocket while doing a nice job of keeping his eyes downfield under pressure. He throws a good ball both at the second and third level and understands throw anticipation and touch over the top. Overall, he is very technically sound as a passer and adds a running element to his game with his legs and buying time with great athleticism. He is a very intriguing prospect at the next level and should see his stock continue to rise this off-season.
