Tarpley is one of the better two-way players in the state with a legit shot at playing on either side of the ball at the next level. However, his defensive upside is impressive. His natural aren’t. His receiver skills seemingly translate when making plays on the ball, jumping routes, and diagnosing patters/ concepts.  

With a mature frame for a solid box safety, he has solid closing speed and the physicality to thrive as an enforcer near the line of scrimmage/box. However, he still has enough awareness and range to patrol deeper zones.
