Ream completed 9-of-15 passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Although these are modest statistics for some QBs, they are impressive since Exeter operates a run-heavy Straight-T offense. The TD pass to Mulrey seemed to deflate the Crusaders. The TD came on a third-and-6 play with 8:50 remaining in the third quarter and helped the Blue Hawks take a 21-0 lead.

In many ways Ream is the perfect quarterback for Exeter’s run-dominated Straight-T offense. He’s a good enough runner to get to the edge when necessary, but also capable a completing a high percentage of his passes when Exeter does throw. He also plays varsity basketball for Exeter, and is entering his second season as Exeter’s starting QB. Ream, one of two team captains this year, passed for 599 yards and eight TDs last season. Perhaps more important is the fact that he didn’t have a pass intercepted.
