2024 linebacker Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Blanchard | 2024 State OK was one of many prospects that we uncovered while doing our “Friday Film Review” series this offseason. We didn’t know much about Hughes before watching the film but we were really impressed with his play near the line of scrimmage. Hughes ended up being one of the team’s leading tacklers last season and he’ll definitely bring that experience into this season. We mentioned earlier how the Lions will probably have a strong offensive unit that ends up being one of the higher scoring units in Class 4A. But the defense will be up there as well. Having a player like Hughes returning, who was just a magnet to the ball last season will give them a real boost as they try to contend for the state title.

Similar to Espinoza at Pryor, Blanchard 2024 defender Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Blanchard | 2024 State OK was another prospect that we didn’t know much about heading into this week. And just like Espinoza, Hughes has a few positions listed on his Twitter and Hudl. But after watching the film, the breakdown is somewhat simple. Size-wise, he looks like a defensive back based on the film. But based on the film, Hughes plays like an absolute game-wrecker at linebacker. The majority of his film featured him lining up near the line of scrimmage and he will lower his helmet and put a hit on an opponent, that’s for sure. The run support coming from Hughes was outstanding as he was incredibly productive in that department last season. Another thing that was impressive was Hughes in the special teams department. Any time the ball ended up in his hands, he showcased some athleticism to get in the open field and make a play. But his future as a prospect feels like it’s on defense but the only question is where that will be.
