It is hard to find a DL, or lineman in general, who had a better day than the Fond du Lac DE/Edge. Tyvon is an absolute freak in the weight room and has been for years. That dedication has translated to the field and made him a dynamic and effective edge defender. The 6’1″ 232 lbs beast dominated every part of the day. He started things off with one of the best combines of the entire day. 4.69 in the 40, 4.56 in the shuttle, 9’9″ in the broad jump, and 38.3″ in the vertical. Freaky numbers for a freaky defender. When the pads went on Pate left no doubts about his on the field talents. Lightning quick out of his stance, speed to rush the edge and leave OTs turning to chase. The powerful DE also flashed the quick twitch change of direction to cut back inside. Further setting him apart from the crowd is how strong he is during reps. His initial contact is enough to create space. The leg drive is there to bull rush OL that are 50+ lbs heavier than him. The kid checks every box. This is a special defender who has done nothing but show consistent growth on and off the field and 100% dedication to year round development. Don’t miss out on this one.

Tyvon Pate is going to be a monster this summer. He is putting together an amazing offseason. His performances in the weight room have rewritten the record books at Fond du Lac HS. These years of showing up are going to culminate in Ty proving that he is a matchup nightmare in the trenches. Turn on the tape and you will get a great sense of what is to come. While 6’2″ 230 lbs isn’t the most imposing DL frame, it is amazing watching Ty be able to fire out of his stance, get hands on, and flex his strength as he tosses big OL aside early in the play. He can also fire off the line with violence and collapse the pocket from the edge. That weight room strength has also aided his quickness and burst off the snap. Tap into the highlights. Things are starting to roll for him too as he just earned his first offer from Minot State.

Ty might be my favorite weight room warrior in the state. The kid puts up unreal numbers every offseason and it has translated to yearly growth and development at an exponential rate. His junior season tape is electric. He may only be 6’2″ but that hasn’t hurt him on the DL. You see the power in his hands to instantly toss OTs aside when he finds the ball. His closing speed in the backfield jumps off the tape. The use of leverage is fantastic and paired with his raw strength has made him a force that can collapse the pocket with his bull rush. So many of his strengths and best highlights stem from years of dedication in the weight room, and he isn’t slowing down yet. I can only imagine how violent he will be as a senior.

Stats: 4.5 Tackles, 2 TFLs
Tyvon flashed throughout the night. It is clear that the impressive weight room numbers from the offseason are translating to the field. He was driving OTs into the backfield or shedding blocks and making stout tackles. The junior DL consistently found ways to get into the backfield and cause disruption, even if he didn’t make the tackle. Ty is a violent DL who plays with his hands, leverage, and the mentality needed to live in the trenches.
