Overview: Batson is a powerful defensive lineman with long-term positional versatility. In Cape’s three-man surface, he bullies offensive tackles as a 5 technique, blowing up run plays. He can either two-gap and drive his man into the backfield or one-gap and be disruptive. His agility is even more evident when he slides to d-tackle. There, he puts pressure on QBs because he’s too quick for guards to stay in front of. Due to strength and length, Batson fits into a number of defensive schemes. He projects best as a strong-side end of a 3-technique defensive tackle; it just depends on what the team needs.
