Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Cota impacted games in all three phases as a Kee junior in 2025. He threw for 1,348 yards and 21 touchdowns against 10 interceptions, and rushed for 266 yards (4.1 YPC) and seven scores. He even caught a 15-yard pass. On defense, Cota collected 30.5 tackles, 24 of which were solo stops, forced a fumble and picked off a pass. He averaged 14.4 yards on seven punt returns and contributed a pair of two-point conversions. The lefty gunslinger shows nice touch tossing the ball down the field. He’s a good athlete that moves well behind center, scrambling for yards or picking them up on designed runs, and keeping plays alive off of schedule. Cota looks fluid as a cornerback, diagnosing plays quickly and getting downhill in a hurry when he reads run. As mentioned, he’s a good athlete with easy change-of-direction ability that helps him stick in coverage. Cota is an interesting prospect in the eight-man game and could benefit from putting himself in front of coaches at college camps this summer.
