Possibly the top breakout star for Kirkwood this season should be this 6’3 edge rusher that has the athleticism and physical upside to become a difference maker on defense that potentially leads the team in sacks. Vereen will be going both ways this Fall but his impact should be felt the most on defense where he can wreck havoc off the edge and develop into the most feared defensive player on the roster. The Cobras rising junior is still developing his game and growing into his body but the raw athletic upside is there to become the “next guy” for Kirkwood that plays his way into D1 opportunities. I can certainly see Vereen becoming the team’s top X-Factor player due to his ability to rush the quarterback and create pressure in the backfield.
