We don’t want to shock you here, but another crop of Daniel linebackers on their way out the door already have replacements at the position lined up and ready to go. In Pounds, it just took him a bit longer to realize he wasn’t a receiver.
In his first season focusing on defense, Pounds backed up the staff’s notion of what he could be by putting up 45 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery. A lopsided bulk of that production came late in the year, especially after Pounds took over a starting job for the Lions’ two playoff games.
His natural instincts really started to shine with the additional rhythm, and he’ll enter the 2026 as a presumed starter. As such, his next two seasons should be chock full of numbers as he helps Daniel navigate its way back in Class 3A.
