Rankin is a strong linebacker who has the versatility to play near the line of scrimmage or drop back into coverage. He has good speed and closing burst, which helps him create TFLs. He’s light on his feet, moves well laterally, and looks comfortable changing directions without losing much momentum. When he gets an opportunity to finish, he isn’t shy about it and can deliver some big hits. I like that he can stay on the field in different situations without becoming a liability. That versatility gives a defense a lot of flexibility in how they can use him and gives him an intriguing upside if it all comes together.
