Villanueva delivered an impressive late-game performance in an entertaining matchup against The Woodlands. He played with tremendous poise, took what the defense gave him and made accurate throws both down the middle of the field and toward the sidelines.
With the Bears trailing 30-21 and about four minutes remaining, Villanueva led a quick four-play drive. He extended the play by escaping a sack before finding his target for a 19-yard gain while drifting backward. Two plays later, he hit his receiver in stride for a 47-yard completion that put the Bears in position to score quickly.
Villanueva continued dealing on the game-winning drive. His ability to throw accurately on the move was on full display, along with the confidence and dual-threat ability he brings to the offense. He orchestrated a 64-yard drive that moved the Bears into field-goal range for the win.
It was an incredible start for Villanueva and the Bears, proving they are never out of the fight and have what it takes to rally late and break some hearts this season.
