Burgess also returns kickoffs and plays running back for Christian County, where he totaled 119 all-purpose yards as a true athlete offensively, defensively, and on special teams. So far, he’s provided a huge spark to the Tigers’ lineup, and I expect him to be among the most underrated DBs in the 6A class.

Burgess is a versatile player who seems to make an impact no matter where he’s lined up. Defensively, he’s a solid defensive back who can stay with his man, compete at the catch point, and come away with PBUs. Offensively, he’s shown he can carry the football and rip off explosive runs when he finds a crease. He even stands out as a willing blocker on kick returns, doing the little things that don’t always show up in the stat sheet. He plays hard from start to finish and never seems to take a play off. I have a lot of respect for players like that because they’ll do whatever their team needs to help win.
