Tavares Burgess Tavares Burgess 5'8" | 160 lbs | DB/ATH Christian County | 2028 KY was Christian County’s defensive star on Friday, helping the Tigers earn their first win in program history after last offseason’s consolidation with Hopkinsville. In the 47-28 victory over McKenzie (TN), he recorded six tackles, one pass breakup, and a pick-six to round out his defensive highlights. Burgess also returns kickoffs and plays running back for Christian County, where he totaled 119 all-purpose yards as a true athlete offensively, defensively, and on special teams. So far, he’s provided a huge spark to the Tigers’ lineup, and I expect him to be among the most underrated DBs in the 6A class.

Burgess is a versatile player who seems to make an impact no matter where he’s lined up. Defensively, he’s a solid defensive back who can stay with his man, compete at the catch point, and come away with PBUs. Offensively, he’s shown he can carry the football and rip off explosive runs when he finds a crease. He even stands out as a willing blocker on kick returns, doing the little things that don’t always show up in the stat sheet. He plays hard from start to finish and never seems to take a play off. I have a lot of respect for players like that because they’ll do whatever their team needs to help win.

A hard-hitting defensive back, Tavares Burgess Tavares Burgess 5'8" | 160 lbs | DB/ATH Christian County | 2028 KY is a run-stopper at the line of scrimmage. He can stand up a receiver on the line of scrimmage, drive them backward, and has proven his ability to knock the ball free when creating contact on quick throws. Burgess finished his sophomore season for Hopkinsville with 32 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. He’s the Swiss army knife, serving as both a wide receiver and running back on offense.
