About Tate

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a disciplined, smart offensive lineman. I move pretty good for my size. My teammates can count on me. Sophomore year was only my 3rd year of football ever, so starting all year at guard and playing against the great linemen in the FRCC really helped me to grow up fast. I'm working hard in the weight room and on my technique.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play hard and have fun. I like learning - about football and lots of other things. When I'm not playing football or training, I like to read and listen to music. I love hiking, fishing, camping, and just being out in nature.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I also throw shot and discus on the track team and work year-round too.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I play hard for my teammates. I had a separated shoulder at practice on a Wednesday and I wanted to play that Friday. Trainers and Coach kept me out, but I was back the next week and played the rest of the year with the brace. I work as a lifeguard at the Kroc Community Center in Green Bay, and help with Salvation Army bell ringing around Christmas.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I am working hard to catch up after starting football late.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to eventually be a pilot and I'd love to have a chance to study aviation in college. At this point I'm most interested in D2 and FCS schools and hoping to stay near Wisconsin.

It was great to get a fresh look at the impressive IOL out of Ashwaubenon. Tate looks more and more like a next level OL as the weeks go by. This week the junior demonstrated his excellent balance of athleticism/range and power. In the trenches he was so quick off the line and getting in position to wall off his man from the football. That quickness wasn’t just in those short areas, though. He effectively pulled across the formation and attacked level two defenders too. As the game went on the big man’s run blocking helped put this game away too. Keep this kid on your radars.
