St. John’s College safety Tariq Hayer Tariq Hayer 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB St. Johns | 2025 State MD had multiple tackles throughout the game, including key stops on run plays in the first and second quarter (while the game was still close). He was also influential in pass coverage and forced incompletions occasionally. Hayer’s tackling ability and physical presence in the run game helped limit Good Counsel’s running attack to get those explosive plays (15-plus yards). He also ran the football a few times on offense. Hayer is a Rutgers football commit.

Tariq put on a show in SJC’s game vs. Carroll (DC) and he did so in-front of Rutgers HC Schiano, as he was there to check in on one of his top commits.

Hayer made impact plays in multiple ways during the game. He secured an INT, and blocked punt that was recovered for a score, and an impressive Polamalu style sack off the edge. His interception came after a strong jam on the WR and then reading the route/quickly getting eyes on the ball to snag it. Tariq is a physical DB, not afraid to hit and plays fast & violent. A dynamic athlete who can get sideline to sideline and make plays all over the field. Tariq showed why he is a top DB in the area and one of Rutgers prized commits in their 25 class.
