Tanner Thomson Tanner Thomson 6'5" | 250 lbs | DL/OL Edgerton | 2028 State MN is out here representing the Greater Minnesota and small school, 9-Player classification of Minnesota prep football on the upcoming cycle’s recruiting trail. A massive, experienced, productive, and potentially toolsy DT/DE and pass-rusher from Edgerton High School, Thomson has garnered recruiting attention that cannot be ignored during the fall, earning interest from Augustana (SD), Sioux Falls, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa State and visiting the Gophers on Sept 13, Augustana (SD) on Sept 19, and Iowa State on Sept 27.

Sadly, no updated tape and film from this recruiting riser! Tanner: update your Hudl and post it on your X account as well, my man!

Thomson is one of the most impressive sophomore prospects in the state, regardless of class. This kid is a unit, with a frame that is rare both among 9-Man prospects and sophomores in general. The All-District defensive lineman produced some great tape last fall. On it, he proves to be a massive problem for offenses. He’s frequently the biggest athlete on the field and moves well for his size. His first step off the line is explosive and gains a ton of ground, and he has shown that he can work through a tackle and blocker in the backfield in rapid succession and still make a play on the QB. He is a massive threat every time the QB drops back to pass, and he’s got a ton of utility in the run game as well. It takes multiple blockers to move him off the LOS, and even then, Thomson is constantly working toward the rock. There are a lot of things to like about Thomson in 2026.

From his freshman tape, Tanner Thomson Tanner Thomson 6'5" | 250 lbs | DL/OL Edgerton | 2028 State MN already has the makings of a prime prospect who has stood out playing at both DE and TE. On the offense, Thomson was a key contributor for Edgerton’s run game, as he was consistently able to drive defenders back to open up lanes on the outside. On the edge, Thomson has been very disruptive, doing a great job at using his speed and size to shed blocks, slowing down the backfield, and also doing a good job at knocking down passes at the line. Thomson was a standout at our combine series in April, and the hype will continue building over 2025 as Thomson has quickly become one of the best players in the 9-man league to watch.
