About Tanner
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
Hardworking dual-threat quarterback and defensive back who leads by example. I focus on letting my actions speak louder than words, consistently putting in the effort to make plays and elevate my team in a society.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I’m mentally tough with a reputation for grit, smart IQ, and the ability to block out distractions as well as staying calm under pressure. I focus on improving 1% every day through disciplined physical and mental training. Drawing inspiration from books like Can’t Hurt Me and Mental Toughness for Young Athletes, I apply those lessons to elevate my own game and to strengthen my teammates as well.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Outside of football and baseball, I stay involved by being involved in FCA leadership, student council, leadership programs, and community service involvement through bible study teams. I’ve also earned recognition such as National Honors Society, A-Honor roll, and All-Academic Leadership Award for Edgewater Pop Warner, which reflect the same work ethic and leadership I bring on the field.”
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through football and my daily training, I’ve developed leadership, teamwork, and resilience. I focus on improving 1% every day, pushing myself and motivating my teammates to do the same. My experiences have strengthened my mental toughness, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure, while also applying that same commitment to community service and helping others succeed.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Since playing 10u sports and committing to athletics as a top priority, I’ve often been told I wasn’t big enough, tall enough, or fast enough. Rather than letting that stop me, I used it as motivation to improve every day. This mindset has helped me build confidence, mental toughness, and leadership—not just on the field, but in school and in life so far.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college that challenges me both academically and athletically, where I can continue developing as a student, athlete, and leader. I want a program that values hard work, teamwork, and growth, and where I can contribute to the team while preparing for life beyond football.
