We’re kicking off the Knights‘ OL room’s exploration with the biggest of the bunch in 6’6 Northern Michigan OT commit Tanner Carel Tanner Carel 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL St. Michael-Albertville | 2027 State MN . STMA’s RT and occasional LG, judging from the 2025 tape, Carel has prototypical size for the position and a college-ready build that can really physically dominate if he continues to hit the weight and develop and work on his body. We saw Carel and his STMA OL teammates live at this past June’s UWRF Minnesoconsin Mega Camp, and the foot speed and pass pro technique and skill set were a good watch that afternoon over the border in WI, especially during 1v1s. Carel earned Sioux Falls and NMU offers throughout his junior year offseason, and after a visit to Marquette, the 6’6, 325 lber. shut it down and committed to the GLIAC competitor NMU.

His junior highlights display an OT with a clean and overall solid pass set that can gain depth to handle speed rushers threatening his outside shoulder in pass pro. The fridge of an OT gets off the ball well and can climb to the second level and break down to corral quicker LBs effectively, and he’s a strong combo blocker with lateral agility, good vision and stunt/blitz processing, and some thump at the contact point. He keeps those feet choppin’ post-contact, flashes lead in his hands and owns a big first punch, and demonstrates good balance and overall control in space. Carel is a big pillar to STMA’s 2026 OL as well as NMU’s 2027 commitment class.

As I’m sure a lot of you know, PRZMN is always on the lookout for the Next Great Minnesota Lineman. A lot of the time that search coincides with the hunt for giant OL and DL, particularly OTs, and last year we saw the likes of Phillip Pisarchuk Phillip Pisarchuk 6'7" | 290 lbs | OL Mound Westonka | 2026 State MN (Iowa Western commit) and Zak Koep Zak Koep 6'8" | 290 lbs | OL Parkers Prairie | 2026 State MN (MSU-Moorhead commit) make big debuts on the 2026 Big Board, and this year’s iteration looks even more promising in St. Michael-Albertville mammoth OT Tanner Carel Tanner Carel 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL St. Michael-Albertville | 2027 State MN . Coming in at a massive 6’7, 300 lbs., Carel also plays volleyball for STMA, a fun little multi-sport combination for an offensive tackle, and that volleyball background definitely flashes in his mobility and athleticism, especially laterally and in his pass set.

Speaking of his pass set, the RT is smooth and balanced and is easily able to gain depth and handle both speed and power from opposing defensive ends and linebackers in pass pro. I love how he can smoothly combo, climb, and work laterally around the LOS, especially for his size, and the COD ability is really impressive for a developing offensive tackle in the MN 6A ranks. He does play a little high, but Carel is comfortable and effective at finding work and eliminating threats in space for a larger OT prospect. The STMA product does a good job of staying engaged with a defender once he gets those massive mitts on a DL or LB and can easily wash DEs out of the play thanks to his size and mobility. PRZ is overall really impressed by his effectiveness, experience, and overall comfortability in pass protection for his age and size. There isn’t a chance you should miss seeing this dude live and in the flesh if you’re recruiting 2027 MN OL!
