About Sonny

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm an athlete with a high-motor and a vocal leadership style. I bring a relentless work ethic and an intense energy to every play, always striving to be a dominant physical force on the field. My gameplay is defined by unwavering effort and a strong presence that elevates my team. This combination of skill and passion is what I offer.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I approach every practice and game with a team-first mindset, fully focused on WIN: What’s Important Now. I’m locked in on improving every single rep, determined to be more physically dominant than whoever lines up across from me. My mentality is relentless and competitive, driven by a constant push to elevate myself and my teammates. I bring intensity, focus, and a strong work ethic.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I played club volleyball for Kokua and Absolute Subzero, gaining valuable experience competing at a high level. I also volunteer as a youth coach for Kokua, where I help develop younger athletes by teaching fundamental skills, promoting teamwork, and encouraging a love for the game. These roles have strengthened my leadership and coaching abilities.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As team captain and a volunteer coach, I’ve built leadership and teamwork skills. My best quality is always being available while showing up, staying focused, and supporting my team in every moment. In these roles, I learned how to motivate others, communicate clearly, and foster a positive and inclusive environment. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, everything changed. I had to juggle school, sports, and take on a bigger role at home often acting as a pseudo stay-at-home dad for my siblings. It taught me how to balance responsibility while still being there for my team. I stayed committed, showing up every day and learning that resilience, presence, and being dependable.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm searching for a college that will give me a chance to prove my athletic skills. Academically, I'm focused on pursuing a degree in either kinesiology or business, aiming to balance my passion for sports with a solid education.
