About Sawyer

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Versatile athlete with speed, power, and size who can play any position on the field. Five years as an offensive and defensive lineman—voted one of the top linemen in the league—then moved to quarterback in 2025, scoring 14 rushing and 3 passing touchdowns for a playoff team, including a 95-yard rushing touchdown, while leading the team in rushing and passing.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Relentless and aggressive competitor who attacks every play. Plays quarterback with the mindset of a fullback, always looking to make my presence felt. A willing hitter who will slide to offensive line for short-yardage situations or shift to wing back to pancake linebackers.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Actively participates in Strength and Conditioning training and enjoys weightlifting to enhance performance. Also competes on a high-level AAU basketball team, developing teamwork and discipline.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Team leader and captain who sets the tone on and off the field, keeping practices and games focused and high-energy. Ensures teammates stay locked in, motivated, and maintain a positive vibe, helping the entire squad perform at their best.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Had to lose 15 pounds to play a skill position in my final year of youth football—a tough process that paid off with a successful season. Also caught mono and had to sit out the 7th-grade playoffs and early all-star practices, which tested my patience. Learned that hard times are temporary and better days are just ahead.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play for a high-character school that balances winning in the short-term with player development in the long-term. I want to play for a coaching staff that has integrity and rewards players who work hard and do the right things.

After watching him on film for months, the Prep Redzone Next New Jersey Who’s Next Middle School Exposure Camp was my first opportunity to see him live — and he did not disappoint. Due to playing in a league with weight restrictions, Jones was always forced to play on the line because of his size. In his first year playing skills position(s), Jones dominated and his camp performance was no different. Great size and length right now. Comes from a military background and plays disciplined ball. Development will go a long way as to figuring out what position he plays going forward, but he has the size and skill to go far.
