After talking to a handful of coaches at the camp, it’s clear that many share the same love I do for the gunslinger from RJM. Vath has a funky sidearm-throwing motion, but for him, it’s super effective. He’s a true-dual threat QB, easily among the top ones at the camp, and I think he’s made great strides as a passer over the last year. His release is quick and smooth, and I’ve noticed he’s made solid steps in improvement regarding his accuracy. Post-camp, I think Vath is solidly on the shortlist for best QB in AAAAA.

One thing that immediately stood out to me when I watched Savy Vath Savy Vath Savy Vath 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rochester John Marshall | 2026 State MN throw was his unique sidearm. This throwing motion may have had an awkward look, but it was effective as he displayed good power and a quick release on his throws. Vath was accurate on his short passes and he did a nice job progressing the ball down the field and hitting some nice floaters on his longer passes. Vath can improve a bit on his deep accuracy, but as he showed in 2024, the potential is clearly there for Vath, and he should be one of the most exciting QBs to watch in Minnesota heading into the 2025 season.

Vath has excellent arm strength. He can push the ball downfield even when he is not allowed to set his feet. He throws an accurate deep ball just as effectively down the middle of the field or down the sidelines. A true dual-threat quarterback, Vath throws well on the move but has the speed and running ability to hurt defenses with his legs. His good vision makes him an effective runner between the tackles – picking his way through the bodies. His ability to make people miss in the open field complements his speed. When he is allowed to stand in the pocket, he is not afraid to take a hit to get a completion.

Rochester John Marshall is in the midst of their best season in a decade, currently sitting at 7-2 going into a rematch with Owatonna in the Section 1 championship, and only two years off an 0-9 record in 2022. The lynchpin of the Rockets turnaround success is their talented 2026 gunslinger Savy Vath Savy Vath Savy Vath 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rochester John Marshall | 2026 State MN . A football team can be made or broken on the all-important QB position, and it’s a huge testament to Vath’s leadership and intangibles, as well as physical tools and gifts, that he has helped create so much in success in the Rockets locker room and program in so little time. A dual-threat QB who went 80-153 (52%) for 1,191 yards and 18 TDs to 7 INTs through the air and added 62 rushes for 521 yards and 7 TDs on the ground, Vath has earned gameday invites from NDSU, North Dakota, Augustana, MSU-Moorhead, and Western Illinois so far this fall, and WIU and NDSU have gotten visits from the junior this fall. Iowa State even sent some mail.

The tape shows a passer with a big arm that can stretch the field and drop the ball into a bucket, throw with solid accuracy and timing that helped him put the ball into some tight windows for the prep level, and put good touch on his passes. As a ball carrier, Vath demonstrates noticeable burst when he tucks and runs and can speed by defenders without them able to get a hand on him. He has the speed to take the sideline and break contain on a defense and is elusive in the open field, displaying a smooth cutting ability that can force missed tackles when he sticks his cleat in the ground and works laterally. Good athlete, proven winner, dynamic, and only getting better. Can’t wait to see how busy Vath’s offseason gets.

Vath is a solid dual-threat quarterback. He started the game with a physical run that broke a tackle for eight yards. While he has good feet, his strength is his arm. He got the ball out quickly on a throw to the outside for ten yards. Vath showed some arm strength with a strong throw on a deep out for twenty-five yards. The junior pulled the ball on a read option play and sprinted into the end zone on a 22-yard touchdown. His arm can easily get the ball forty-plus yards downfield. He throws an accurate deep ball, putting the ball right in the hands of a receiver. He showed good accuracy when he hit a receiver in stride on a crossing route for a first down. Vath showed touch with a pass he looped over a defender but in front of another defender. The completion resulted in a touchdown. Late in the game, he fired a perfect throw down the middle of the field for a touchdown.

A 2026 QB starting to carve a name out for himself in the distinguished 2026 QB rankings, RJM Rocket Savy Vath Savy Vath Savy Vath 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Rochester John Marshall | 2026 State MN is throwing at a 56% clip (38-68) for 592 yards and 10 TDs to 3 INTs, leading John Marshall to a 4-1 record through five games of the 2024 season. 5A-ranked Mankato East is their only loss as well. The 6’2, 175 lber. has also rushed for 193 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Good arm, hits his receivers in stride, puts some touch on his deep ball and puts his receivers in positions to succeed after the catch. Vath shows some get-up as a ball carrier and can take the edge on a defense and fash you for long gains. I also like his quickness with the ball in hand. He can navigate the pocket and extend plays to beat rushers and needs to be accounted for as a ball carrier, will hang in there and deliver throws through contact, and shows good timing as well. Vath needs to up that completion percentage a bit, but I like the ball placement he’s putting on tape and he’s obviously a big reason that RJM is finding so much success in 2024.
